Storing mask between usage
Storing mask between usage
I don't have the best setup next to my bed. How do most of you put your mask away when not in use. I keep setting it next to the machine by my bed and cover it with a hand towel. If not covered it would get very dusty. Still does. The top of the stand is not real big and cannot put something on it to put the mask in. This nightstand does not have a drawer. I would think a drawer would be about perfect. Do you agree? Maybe I should buy a new nightstand
In the past I also saw something that hung on the wall and think to put cannula and or tubing. I cannot find it now. Tried looking on Cpap.com. We nailed a picture hangar on the wall and put a string on the tubing so it can at least be put somewhat out of the way when not in use. It is too much laying on the stand.
Would appreciate any information on dealing with the storing/handling of all this. I do use oxygen 24/7. I appreciate the help and will be back later to check. Sometimes I am slow on getting back but I will be back. Thanks,

I put a stick-on hook on the side of my nightstand. The stand has a small drawer, but other things are in there. The hook and mask are very reachable and the cpap is on the shelf below sitting on top of my ancient humidaire humidifier. I put a plastic bag over the mask (nasal mask) to keep anything crawly out of the business end. Set-up has worked for me for a long time. Now setting all this up on a hospital chair is another challenge that was OK when needed.
Re: Storing mask between usage
I have my hose routed from my machine up to the top of my headboard then over a plant hanger (wall stick out type). I just put a plastic bag over my mask every morning and put it over the plant hanger. Also keeps it up out of the way of my daughters dog .

I have one of those foldout music stands beside my bed. The hose is routed over one side and down to my pillow to the Breeze nasal pillows which I just hang on the other side of the music stand when I take them off in the morning. I know, it's probably not that nice looking but we don't let visitors view our sleeping acommodations.

I have kitties who would love to use this stuff as a toy. To keep everything out of paws reach I use an over-the-door hanger like you would use for hanging clothes and stuff. The hose hangs over it and the mask hangs from the little hook.

I loop it over the headboard as I'm going to use it every night. I keep my bedroom clean as I do to the whole house. I run A/C in bedroom every night and whole house in the day, that keep the dust out. as far as pets, don't have them, but if I did they would be clean and not in my bedroom. (I'd close the door.) Jim

I tuck my mask under the edge of my pillow when not in use.

Hose & headgear on an over the door hook on closet door. Silicon parts and hard shell soak all day in soapy water, then get a rinse, vinegar spray, rest, a final rinse, shake to fling off excess water, then a 'sun' bath under the lamp on my nightstand until they're dry then the light goes out.

Lil slow getting back again. I appreciate all of the responses and I am trying different ways. It all helps and I am improving on this each week. Dust free would sure be nice but not workable. Thanks again to everyone.

Re: Storing mask between usage
My night stand is a small antique with a narrow drawer and the bottom shelf made it very difficult to reach my cpap machine in the middle of the night without getting fully out of the bed, so I purchased one of these:
(Purchased at K-mart for 10 bucks)
It sits right beside my nightstand and is the same height.
And had my husband cut the front of the first drawer out and a place in the side (leaving an inch boarder to keep the strength and integrity of the drawer). The top drawer is where my cpap goes - I can slide it in and out without tilting the machine with the cut-out, and it gets plenty of ventilation from the side cut out.
The second drawer is where my clean dry mask, hose, short hose and any other back up supplies goes. I have a large butterfly (it's an art piece) hook behind my bedroom door that holds my hose to dry before I place it in the bin. I generally wipe everything down with the citris wipes instead of rinsing with water in the morning, so drying is much faster.
The bottom drawer is for cleaning supplies.
I roll it to beside the bed at night - and va-la, I have the machine within reach so I can make adjustments if necessary without getting out of bed.
During the day, I roll it back and have a dish towel on the top where I dry the humidifier chamber or any other piece of my mask that might need to dry.
So far it works beautifully! I'm very happy with it.

Hi Bugdude, I take it you don’t have dust in Australia. (Grinning).
Quietmorning; Amazing what can be done if we really think about it. That is interesting and does give me some ideas. You did a good job.
Thanks everyone.

Re: Storing mask between usage
Never really thought too much about dust accumulation from just sitting for the day. I just put mine on top of my machine, although with my new Swift FX I'm trying to be a bit more hygenic as that seems to help the fit and durability. Anyway, nowadays I wash the pillows and short hose each morning (quick soak in warm suds and rinse) then let it dry on a hand towel through the day. Head gear sits on top of my machine until I need it.
