Encore Pro/Mako Card Reader Errors

Post by gasp » Tue Jan 11, 2011 4:52 pm

I have successfully downloaded my data for some time using Windows 7 64 bit, Encore Pro v. 1.8.49 Database v 13.4, and Mako DT3500 driver v 2.0.0.10.

Today when I tried to download my card reader data as usual I received two error messages.
1) I started Encore Pro. Then I double-clicked on my database and receive the following error:
Program Error Intercepted. An unexpected 'type mismatch' error occurred in Encore Pro.
To get out of the error, I click Continue 3 times.

Then I proceed to the sidebar menu to Download Data and receive the following error:
2)An error has occurred while downloading from the smartcard. Error source: Encore Pro Error number: D

I uninstalled and reinstalled the Mako DT3500 drivers following DreamDiver's instructions and still both errors occur. Help!

I'm working on XP with classic start menu, so please adapt appropriately for V#sta:

1. Insert the card reader into the usb port.
2. Right click on the 'My Computer' icon on the desktop.
3. Pull down to 'properties'. The 'System Properties' window appears.
4. Go to the 'hardware' tab.
5. Click on device manager. The 'Device Manager' window appears.
6. Scroll down to or locate 'Smart Card Readers'.
7. Click the plus sign to the left of that line to reveal the driver "Mako DT3500 SmartCard Reader"
8. Right click the driver.
9. Pull down to 'Uninstall'.
10. Remove the smart card reader from the USB Port.
11. Restart your computer.
12. Download the original manufacturer's reader driver installer for Encore Pro here.
13. Save it somewhere you'll remember, then double click it to reinstall the drivers.
14. If the installer asks you to insert the smartcard reader into the usb slot, do so. Otherwise just finish installing.
15. Insert the usb smartcard reader if you haven't already done so. It should automatically find your reader and ask you whether you want to install the drivers. Let it find the drivers automatically.

You should now have a properly reinstalled set of drivers."

I'm wondering if your computer had a power interruption or any recent software updates?

You might want to try a System Restore to a date you knew Encore last worked. That would be the easiest thing to try.

I'm no computer expert, but is it possible that the card is full or has become corrupted. Cards wear out sometimes.

Thanks all.

There is an error before I introduce the card into the picture, so doubtful it is a card issue. And, the software update isn't relevant because I haven't had any Windows updates since last using Encore Pro and successfully reading the card. Food for thought though : )

Any other ideas?

Hi Gumby : ) My initial post outlines what I have tried which is, "I uninstalled and reinstalled the Mako DT3500 drivers following DreamDiver's instructions and still both errors occur. Help!"

More things I tried:

I installed EP and Mako DT3500 on an older laptop running XP and an older antivirus version - it worked perfectly. I'm beginning to think my latest antivirus program update may be the culprit on my newer laptop.

I disabled the antivirus program on my newer laptop and tried using EP again - same errors.

I went to older laptop and exported database and imported it into the new laptop EP program. The new database info imported properly into EP and showed the latest data just taken off the card on the older laptop. However when starting EP I still see the same error Program Error Intercepted . . .

At least I can see my data on my older laptop but it would be wonderful to find out what caused the errors to occur since others may sooner or later encounter the same errors and we'll have a fix - plus I don't want to travel with my older laptop just to read my data : )

Any help appreciated.
