I travel a fair amount and am looking for a backpack-type cpap travel bag. Something that has a removable part so that the cpap could go in there and then when I get to my destination, I could unzip that and leave it behind when I go out. This way I could carry all of my carry-on stuff in one bag, but still have a separate compartment (for easy unloading at airport security) for the machine.
Does anyone know of any good travel bags? I have the one that came with my ResMed Escape machine. The bag is fine, but it is like a laptop bag and I would prefer a backpack. I've traveled everywhere with the machine and it isn't a problem, I'm just looking for more comfort---and less to carry in my hands. I've looked and looked online, but there just aren't a lot of options
Thanks!

Re: travel bags
I've never had a backpack, but this site looks interesting:
http://www.ebags.com/category/travel-backpacks/2003986
At the bottom of the page it mentions this (I put in bold a part about "removable daypack:")
About Travel Backpacks
Travel backpacks are ideal bags for overnight trips and weekends, though large ones can be used for trips of a week or longer and are favored by adventure travelers. Most travel packs are shaped in the style of a soft-sided suitcase or carry-on, and many have wheels for easy rolling. These rolling travel backpacks are also sometimes called conversion packs because of their ability to quickly convert from rolling mode to backpack mode via hidden backpack straps. Some conversion packs even feature a removable daypack that attaches via zippers or quick-release buckles to the front of the larger pack, for two packs in one!
Top travel backpack brands include High Sierra, Eagle Creek, The North Face, and Rick Steves.

Re: travel bags
I think that's a great idea -- a compartment that detaches.
But I use a small backpack camera bag (Lowe Fastpack 250) for my cpap stuff + laptop. The cpap is in its own section at the bottom and it's easy to zip open and grab for going thru security.

Re: travel bags
For plane travel, I use a Pelican Case (1420)..small enough to be 'legal' for carry on with all the airlines. Had a Pelican 1500 but that was too bulky, but would fit the CPAP and humidifier. I am able to fit the machine, mask, cleaning wipes into one case. I also tuck in a copy of the script and TSA medical necessity form in the lid behind the foam--just in case, but have never needed it.
Since the machine is supposed to be pulled out for ETD testing/swabbing, I put the machine in a bag, and the headgear in another and the tubing in a third. Everything is packed around the case's foam, so nothing moves, but it is very organized and looks nice/neat/professional when opened. This helps to get through security quicker and fewer hassles.
If I get caught on a puddle jumper, the case is sturdy enough and sealed (water/air) to be able to gate checked and toss into the luggage hold. Usually going through security, the reaction is that it is a nice (and serious) case. It might be overkill, but better to breathe than to have a damaged machine. This case also makes it nice to toss into the rental car on the far end.

Re: travel bags
I had gotten a Pelican 1420, but I've never used it.....what I've been using on all my trips has been the FastPack 250....so there have been 7 trips so far.
