Hi,
I have the Resmed S9 with the heated hose. Seems to work alright since I've had no problems with rainout. One question, should the heated hose feel warm to the touch? If so under what conditions? Mine has never felt warm and I wonder if this is correct or if I have a dud...
Thanks
Matt

Re: Heated Hose
Hello; Barb
I use the same type of hose and it does not get that hot that you could really feel the difference to the touch,if you haven't had any issues with rainout then you should be find.Another thing about the climate hose system is that the S9 will indicate when it is engaged/ actived ,any other issues with the hose and the S9 will indicate a hose failure.. there has been a few threads about problems and some solutions with this hose.
Regards Phil

Re: Heated Hose
What's the benefit of a heated hose? Can you only use it on special cpaps?
Re: Heated Hose
why bother with a humidifier at all
they are now' 'politically correct' but in 25 years of CPAP use Ive never used one or felt the need for one and I live in a low humidity area
IMO unless you mouthbreathe, they are not really needed

Skylark40, I use a heated hose just to keep my nose from getting too cold. Without the heated hose My nose would get soooo cold it hurt. The heated hose also stops rainout. It is a comfort item, not needed but some of us love it anyway. Mine is the Aussie heated hose from Sleepzone, and will work with any machine.

I use the much cheaper repti cable heater with a regular hose, but I agree with all of those benefits. My nose would be so cold I would not be able to sleep if the air coming in was not warmed.

Re: Heated Hose
Unless you have the temperature set on the S9 to significantly higher than the ambient temperature in your bedroom..... no it generally wont feel particularly warm to touch.Mbarb wrote:One question, should the heated hose feel warm to the touch?

Re: Heated Hose
Wow, I live in the San Francisco Bay Area - not the city - so more warm and dry. I find it so dry here in general (even now) that I use heated humidity all the time. I can only imagine in the winter (when the cold dry air cracks my fingers), that it will be of utmost help. Maybe I'm just a freak, though.
