Swift FX and PR system One issue

Post by detcord » Mon Sep 13, 2010 11:27 am

Just wondering if anyone else has this issue. I have been using a swift FX for the last several nights, and am having one problem. I know that the PR system one uses a pulse of air on occasion to check for obstructions, but I haven't noticed this with any other mask except for the FX. One pulse wouldn't be quite so objectionable, but several time my machine rips off a 3 or 4 round burst of them. Anyone else notice this, or am I crazy?

I'm just getting started with therapy, and have not used anything other that the FX, but I get that puff of air if my breathing slows prior to falling asleep. My range is 8-12, and the puff isn't too bad... What is your base pressure? If it's high to begin with then I suspect that puff would be somewhat forceful. Have you tried any other pillows? I think with that pressure concentrated up your nose-hole it would be quite noticeable versus another type of mask. Does the pulse of air wake you up at night?

Others have complained of this. I guess I'm a deep breather so it doesn't happen that I notice it, but I've held my breath to feel it. I can hear it, but not really feel it. I use the FX as well and have pressures up to 15.

The people who seemed most bothered by it are slow, shallow breathers. A lot of people breathe that way while transitioning from waking to sleep, and then the puffs disturb them.

My understanding is that the ResMed machines do not do this.

I can see on the graphs that the pulses occur when I am sleeping, but I never feel them.
