No digital signature with Infineer--is it safe to continue?

Post by Born Tired » Mon Nov 14, 2005 4:44 pm

OK, got my card reader from 2factors today.

1)Installed Encore Pro Version 1.4i Rev.4 with no problems (first time I've ever installed anything ). It had only 1 CD with it.
2)Tried to install Mako Infineer Smart Card Reader, but when I got just so far this message came up:
"has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatability with Windows XP. Continuing your installation of this may impair or destabilize the correct operation of your system either immediately or in the future. INF does not contain digital signature information..."

Did you get this message and ignore it or did you not get this message? If you did not, then what do I do next? Keep in mind I am not very techy. We are up-to-date with WindowsXP.

Have not yet tried to download Derek's My Encore.
I have done some reading but didn't find this problem discussed--could have just missed it.
Thanks,
Esther

You must run the setup from the Encore CD NOT the CD that came with the card reader. As long as you're doing that you can safely continue without the drivers being signed by MS.

My version of Encore Pro only came with 1 CD. Some have said they got 2 CDs. Mine is labeled "Data Management Software". Will I be able to install a driver from that one?--I didn't notice an option for that when I did the installation earlier. Remember I am a bit computer challenged.

That's me up there.
Esther

When I opened on the Encore Pro program and went to the Smart Card Utilities it says
"Install the software enclosed with the the reader/writer BEFORE connecting the reader/writer!!!" I don't see an option to install a driver. Sorry.

Got the Encore Pro from CPAP.com but not the reader. The only paper from CPAP.com was a little booklet "Encore Pro Installation Guide" but it says nothing (that I can find) about drivers for the smartcard reader. Did you get your card reader from 2factors?

Do I run the Encore Pro install disc again and then should I see the option of installing the driver from that disc?
How did you guys know not to use the disc that came from 2factors?

I received Encore Pro and Card reader from cpap.com a couple weeks ago.
I had 2 CDs. One Encore Pro and one Smart Card Reader. I used both. First the Encore Pro and then installed the Reader driver from the second CD.
Maybe there are two different versions of Encore Pro CD. One with the Smart card Reader driver on it and one without.

That's what I'm wondering. But I'm hoping that others who didn't get the reader from CPAP.com could tell me for sure. Sorry--I guess I need a step by step plan--don't want to mess up anything.
Thanks,
Esther

I got the reader from cpap.com also - on the encore pro cd - find the folder called smart card drivers or smart card readers - you need to x out the encore pro cd at start to get into the browse part

for me it was start run D: browse to get to it
whatever you need based on your system -

I installed the drivers then rebooted and plugged it in and XP found it

Esther:

Here's the step-by-step instructions I put together after getting all the info I could from other users posts back when I was first installing everything. Derek, th, and Tridens are who I got the info from - they're all amazing. This is what I have:

1. Buy the Encore Pro software (and ONLY the software) from cpap.com.
2. Separately, buy the card reader (Model DT3500) from 2factors.com (and ask for $6 shipping!). http://www.2factors.com/index.php?sp=&p ... s=&lang=en
3. Download MyEncore (optional) from cpaptalk.com.
4. Install the EncorePro software & drivers.
5. Go to http://software.respironics.com/cgi-bin ... ge=[Encore] and download two updates: (a) Encore Pro v1.4i Rev 4 Upgrade and (b) Encore Pro v1.4i Service Pack 1. Esther, please note you may not need this step, depending on what version of Encore Pro you have.
6. On the Encore Pro CD, there is a subdirectory called "Smart Card Readers". There is a file in named setup.exe that will install the Infineer/Mako drivers. You'll want to choose the DT3500 (USB) option when it asks you.
7. Reboot if it asks you to (can't remember), plug in your reader, and go.
8. Start Encore Pro, go to Preferences, make sure you've chosen "USB" as Smart Card Reader Type.
9. Install MyEncore.

Two caveats: Make SURE you have installed Encore Pro software/drivers before you plug in your reader, and m ake sure you have downloaded data into Encore Pro before you try to start the MyEncore program.

Once you have it succesfully installed, let me know, and I"ll tell you how to set it so that it won't erase your data every time you download.

Hope that helps.[/b]

College Girl,

Can you please share with us how to set it up so that we don't erase the data on the card...I assume this setting needs to be done before you insert the card for the first time.

Thanks.
