What about a baby shampoo? That's what many of us use. Use just a tap water rinse if you don't want to use the vinegar rinse.

I make homemade soap myself, have used only it to clean my masks with, and have never had any greasy feel left behind. The glycerine is good for your skin and doesn't rob the moisture from it as much as commercial "soaps," but the plastic and rubber parts of a mask cannot really "absorb" that glycerine and it rinses clean away. My mask seals/cushions also don't have that dried-out, pale, chalky look to them that I used to get when washing them with dishwashing detergent; they are soft and supple. I only make it in bar form (no liquid), so you have to work up the lather in your hands and wash your mask. It costs almost what I charge for one bar ($3) for the postage and the padded envelope to ship a 5oz bar, but if you IM me your address, I would be glad to send a smaller (maybe 1-2oz?) sample bar to you free of charge. Happy sleeping!

EDITED TO ADD - I also make it completely free of scents or perfumes (the only way I make it)

I've always used a few drops of one of the "Free and Clear" laundry detergents, usually "All" or "Purex."

Secret Agent Girl,
I have a lot of allergies and I had a tough time finding something that would not leave a scent. I took a recommendation from someone on this sight and went the one step extra that I needed. I use Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps UNSCENTED. It is wonderful stuff. Hope this helps you.

I've always used Dawn dishwashing liquid (blue) for my masks and headgear. I don't "wash" the other parts (humidifier or hose).

I have always used Ivory Classic Dishwashing liquid for my masks, hoses and humdifier water chamber. I have never used vinegar or anything else on my cpap equipment.

I am very sensitive to pefumy smells and have never had a problem (7+ years on cpap) with the Ivory.

I use Ivory dish soap unscented to wash my mask. I get the unscented original and I have no problem with it. I also use Johnson's baby shampoo to wash out the hose. That has a pleasant smell to it that goes away quickly. The generic baby shampoo works the same too.
I just looked it up online and the Ivory dish soap I use may be the classic scent, but it's barely noticeable to me.

Ivory bar soap is recommended for backpacking because it floats and isn't filled with as much stuff as other soaps. If you really get into being natural and want an all natural soap with no odors or scents, try a specialty hiking site they will have that there.

Their is one laundry soap that you can use that is very gentle and doesn't have any fragrances in it. It is for washing infants clothing or clothing of those that are particularly sensative to fragrances and other such things. I can't recall the name of it now as my son it 11 and it's been about 9 years since I had to use that when I laundered his clothes.

Most hand soaps have lotion or moisturizers in them. I found that using them creates major leak problems.

Yes ladies, some of us guys do laundry and dishes just don't use that against your husband or I will deny it.

I can always edit this to take that out and deny it for every.

I use dial foaming hand soap. I think it is scented, but they may make unscented. I like the foaming hand soaps because they are not slimy and have no residue. When I wash my nasal pillow, it only takes about an hour of air drying and I can't smell any fragrance in it.

Oh my goodness, Gerry - I never thought of that - gee you are clever! I usally wash my pillows with diluted baby shampoo but sometimes (justs sometimes) I wash the pillows with face soap. Maybe I must change to dishwashing liquid soap Yes, I think I am going to do that - I will keep a bottle of diluted Sunlight Liquid in the bathroom.
Thanx Gerry! Have a nice weekend - we are going to the beach this morning - it is hot in PE!
