While I always leave it out, I do stay at really nice hotels. If I were to stay at hotels with questionable staff, easy access to the public, or otherwise I would put it away. Once I left the hose with masks at the end on my pillow. Housekeeping made the bed and replaced the hose and mask onto the bedspread, on top of the pillow where I left it. I never forgot to put it on the bedstand again : ).

I make sure to empty the water from the humidifier, if I've brought it along. (in case it's accidentally knocked over.)
I remove the mask and hose and put those in a bag in a drawer.
If i wash the mask, I leave it on a folded towel with a "do not disturb" sign.
unplug the extension cord, if used.
Place a "do not disturb" note on top of the cpap.

Seems to be a system that works well for me.

ps- I also use a CozyHose Boss to temporarily hang my hose on the wall. Great system.

I leave it out. I generally clean the mask and leave it to dry in the bathroom. The rest on the nightstand, making sure the hose won't interfere with making the bed.

But then, I don't stay in places where leaving things out is risky.

The 5-star hotels are the places I am more concerned about staff being light-fingered and play con games.

I just leave it out, and over hundreds of nights staying in hotel rooms while using xPAP treatment have never had any cleaning related problems.

As far as Rooster's "chemicals" scare (give up on continual scare tactics, its getting very, very old)... if you stay in places that are general spraying that sort of stuff around, putting your machine away is not going to make one jot of difference to any effects from the "chemicals".

Cheers,

Bill

I usually sit it on the bottom shelf of the nightstand for use. I never stay more than a day or two when I have to stay in a motel, so I use the "Do Not Disturb" sign so (hopefully) no one comes in! If I thought they might, I would put it away each morning.

When we travel, we have the Dachshund Duo with us. S&S don't bother my machine or my mask -- and there's no way in Hades the staff is coming in the room with that pair in there.

(This year, the babble beagle is staying with my Dad while the dachshunds travel with us!)

Rooster had a legit point.

I don't want my equipment to receive an overspray from Windex, Mr. Clean or anything like that.

I used to clean rooms at a semi-nice hotel- not five star but not cheap either. If you put a Do Not Disturb sign on your door your maid will love you and wont come anywhere near your room

You can just call the front desk and request towels only.

There was never an incident when anything was taken from a room when I worked there, but our managers monitored us really closely and we always had to have the door open while in a room and they checked that as well by walking by several times per room.

Only time I have stayed more than a night in a hotel since beginning CPAP was for the Feline Conservation Federation convention last summer. Was fairly safe because every other room had a cage in it with some strange-looking cat in it....kept the staff honest! Even so, the machine went in the car each day because it was easy to do.

I have never had a problem in a hotel room, but people do all the time. Better to be proactive with valuable stuff.

If you travel a lot, here's a suggestion: Using nice-looking dry transfer lettering, put on the top of the machine, something to this effect: 'Model 517 Nocturnal Power Rectal Irrigator'. To add to the effect, put an arrow by the hose outlet and label it 'To Anus'. I bet that will prevent anyone from even touching it, let alone stealing it

Stayed a week at Disney's All Star Resorts (budget accomodations). I put my machine on a chair next to the bed in it's carry case, in the morning I put the hose in the top pouch and zipped up the case, I put my mask in a gallon Ziplock bag and left it on top of the TV cabinet. No problems, no funky smells. Washed my mask at night before bed.

When I'm at Dragon*Con I stay at the Hyatt, been there 3 times with equipment. Lots of others come with CPAP stuff, it's getting that common . I leave it out, unplugged with washed stuff on a folded towel and mask inside nightstand drawer, hose hanging in closet over a hanger. Never any evidence that it's been touched. I make nice with housekeeping staff when I see 'em.

So, I should see about going to Dragon*Con if I want to run into other xPAP'rs at a con, eh.... Well, as it was....the first/last/only two hotel stays with my CPAP.....the first was Penguicon and the second was Chicago Tardis.

Haven't decided what May is going to be coming up....I'm pre-registered for Penguicon, but now I'm tempted to try doing the scifi cruise.....

I'm also pre-registered to be back at Chicago Tardis....

Too funny!!!!

I just leave it out as well. In the summer time, I would be concerned about leaving it in the car where temperatures can go to the extreme when the car is sitting in direct sunlight. When planning a national parks trip out west 1 year ago, I looked into this and thought that the temperatures could easily exceed maximum temperature limits for my M series pro.
