Question about data results

Post by Kemosabe2 » Fri Nov 27, 2009 7:51 pm

Thanks to Katie, I was able (I hope!) to download my statistic report and detailed graph. Can someone please help me to interpret it? Any idea why my apneas are all in the morning? Most of the hypopneas are in the morning also. Any ideas why that is? Thanks, Lisa

Hi Lisa.

Your Apnea Index is excellent. I'd recommend increasing the minimum pressure by a couple of centimeters and that might help to drop your HI numbers. ResMed machines count Flow Limitations (partial hypopneas) in their HI numbers, so that's why they're usually higher on those machines. Some say that if you cut that number (HI) in half, it'll be closer to a true Hypopnea number.

Also, on ResMed machines, the EPR number setting also corresponds with the actual pressure centimeter drop on exhale. So, if your EPR setting is "3", your effective pressure will be dropped 3 cm. on exhale.

Keep up the good work.

Yay! Isn't that fun? Actually, thank Pugsy, who wrote the instructions.

I read on another thread that early morning is the time of REM sleep, and that is when more apneas happen. My respiratory tech had told me that during my titration also. I don't always find that to be true, but some mornings are like that for me.

It doesn't make much sense at all.

Did you really sleep for nearly 12 hours?

The pressure and leak graphs stop at about 9:30 am, but the AHI and Event graphs go on for a few more hours, with the majority of scored events occuring in that time.... that is definitely very strange indeed.

Cheers,

Bill

I did actuallty sleep almost 12 hours. I do that a lot which is why I take sleep apnea so seriously. I really hope treatment can help me to get a better quality sleep and therefore have less of a need to sleep so many hours. I'd LOVE to get my life back! I also noticed that the pressure and leak graphs stopped early and questioned why but I have no idea why. I really appreciate all of the help I'm getting from the members of this site. Thank you all.
