OT: Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!
OT: Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!
I just want to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving! For our friends who live in other countries, a Happy Day to you!
I am cooking our turkey from frozen this year, using my Nuwave Oven (conduction/convection/infrared). This is going to be interesting! We may end up eating A LOT of mashed potatoes and yams for dinner tonight if the turkey's a failure!
Let us remember all the blessings, big and small, that we are thankful for. I am grateful to all of you for your help and support.

. . . and to you as well, DreamOn. This is my favorite holiday : it's about family, friends and food -- not so commercial. What a wonderful thing to celebrate *any* day!
Re: OT: Happy Thanksgiving, Everyone!
DreamOn, I hope you are able to get the bag of giblets out of the turkey before you serve it! That would really be a case of giblet stuffing if you don't.
Let us know how the frozen method works. I, for one, will be interested. I wonder if the pop-up thing will eventually work. Probably so. Be sure it is done all the way to the center. I wouldn't want you to get sick.
The first year my ex had the kids to his home for Christmas he cooked a turkey but forgot to remove the bag of giblets. It has been a family joke ever since. That turkey was not frozen, though!
Happy Thanksgiving to all. We have so many reasons to be thankful.

Happy Thanksgiving to you also and all forum members. My husband ended up picking up food from Costco - my son will be the only one coming and he is so laid back he wouldn't care if I served P,B &J! It was nice to not have to get up early to start dinner but I sure do miss that turkey smell in the house - they should make a candle that is Thanksgiving dinner scented! Maybe I'll do my potpourri jar with poultry seasoning and sage, ha, ha. Next year, I hope to feel great and do the whole traditional thing. Right now I'm in survival mode. Let us know how "Tom" turns out. When my ex was growing up they had heavy snow and a big power outage (in Ohio) and ended up roasting hot dogs in their fireplace for their Christmas dinner. Not traditional but it SURE provided memories.

Good to hear from all of you!
I have a feeling that you're going to have a fabulous Christmas this year, Barbara! Hopefully, you will be feeling much better. When you get a chance, let us all know how it's going with your machine acquisition.
Enjoy the day!

I'll let you know how the turkey turns out! I'm a little skeptical about cooking a frozen turkey, but I've had the Nuwave oven for about a year now and use it all the time. It makes fabulous roasts, whole chickens, and cooks salmon fillets to perfection! This is my first time trying a whole turkey, however. An 11-pound bird is supposed to take 3 hours. I think I'll cook it a little longer, just to be safe. Giblets are removed after the bird is turned halfway through.Catnapper wrote:DreamOn, I hope you are able to get the bag of giblets out of the turkey before you serve it! You've cooked 15 turkeys for today! Wow! Yes, no smallpox would be nice.deerslayer wrote:Happy Gobble Gobble to all ! ...have already cooked , carved , and packaged 15 toms for today . just thankful thats all done, except for the ham i need to bone out & carve yet wishing great ZZzzzzzzzz to all & no small pox like the first thanksgiving
Yay for Costco -- much easier for you! There will only be a few of us for dinner here too. And all are very laid back. They won't care if we end up only with mashed potatoes, yams, and dessert. If my turkey's a disaster, at least it'll make a good story for future years, "Remember the year she tried to cook a frozen turkey...."btesterman wrote:Happy Thanksgiving to you also and all forum members.
