help selecting bipap

Post by daddyshakesus » Wed Oct 28, 2009 11:14 am

my DME has offered me a VPAP 25 auto or an M series auto, they say the price is the same($500 dollar difference on CPAP.com) Can't do anything about price, but which one do you savvy veterans prefer?

I have the Resmed VPAP Auto which came out in January 2008. The Resmed VPAP Auto 25 came out in July 2008. I like my VPAP Auto very much. I've not been a fan of the Respironics M Series at all.

I deal mostly with Respironics machines, so I am biased, but see if the DME will get you the new respironics machine that is called the phillips respironics.

I love my job, because of the difference that PAP therapy makes in peoples lives.

If you want to collect your data, you might take that into consideration when you select your machine. You need to have software and card reader for some. I am not sure what is available now. I do love to check my data to see how I do. It makes me feel like I can fix what is wrong. Little tweaks change things. Tightening a strap may affect your leaks, for example.

I have had good luck with the Respironics M Series Auto Bi-Pap with Bi-flex. I liked it better than the ResMed one. It felt softer and easier for my breathing. If you have a chance to try both, that is ideal.

I have no experience with other brands or newer versions. I certainly can only tell you of my experience. People are so different. What is right for one person fails another person.

Probably either machine would give you good therapy. Does your doctor have an opinion?

Good luck. Let us know how you do and what you choose.

Honestly I wouldn't go with the PR (Phillips Respironics) machine. There's no user software for it yet.

I'd go with the M series... but that's me.

Does this not shake the credibility of the DME in general? "I am biased towards Respironics?" So, basically, this DME's customers have no choice in equipment due to his bias. That is peachy.
