xPAP maintenance

Post by turbosnore » Wed Oct 14, 2009 1:41 am

Escecially for those who own their machines:

How often does the machine need maintenance and what kind of maintenance?
How is it done (by bringing the machine to the DME or at home)?

It doesn't need anything done to it ever unless something is wrong (it will show an error message on the screen, and possibly make funny noises). If that happens, then it goes back to wherever it came from for fixing or replacing. It's not something you do on your own.

Check the manual.
For the S8 II Autoset, the manual says it should be checke after 5 (five) years;
The machines do need filter replacement -- the S8 II Autoset is once in 6 months.

I don't know if its the same for the Vantage.

Does anyone actually go six months without changing the filter on a Resmed?

I would guess most americans do not change their toothbrush every six months. I am not guilty yet of not changing my filter for longer than 6 months on my autoset ,cause it has only been mine for a less than a month.

Any idea what the check includes?

No.
What does your Vantage manual say?

What does your Vantage manual say?
This product should be inspected by an authorized ResMed
service center 5 years from the date of manufacture.

and

Servicing
!
CAUTION
• Do not attempt to open the S8 AutoSet II case. There are no user
serviceable parts inside.
• Inspection and repair should only be performed by an authorized agent.
Under no circumstances should you attempt to service or repair the flow
generator yourself.

Not very informative in that respect?

That's what the S8 manual says too.
I think its very informative, thought I guess that's not the kind of information you want....

I've got an old Autoset T that I've been using consistantly now for 3 1/2 years on one filter. Not intentionally. I've been feuding with a DME for that long, and couldn't find any more. (That feud is what caused me to look for this forum) My antique is now breathing clean on a new filter with two spares.
