CPAP Adding to my Sore Throat?

Post by sleepysouth » Mon Sep 14, 2009 11:34 am

I have had a nasty sore throat and post-nasal drip for the last 2 days or so. I usually have problems with seasonal allergies, so that could be all it is. However, this year, I found myself wondering--could my CPAP machine be making things worse? If so, what can I do to prevent it?

Thanks for listening!

Are you using your humidifier?

I guess it could make a sore throat a little worse but I have been using cpap for a little over 2 years and I have
had fewer colds than I used to.

Yes, Millich, I do use my humidifier. Why do you ask?

I seem to have developed a sore throat....last night I reached over and turned on my humidifier (been using passive most of the summer)....currently its on the lowest setting, may need to bump it a bit.

My throat wasn't too bad this morning...but I had gas and cramps something awful. Wonder if my throat (and nasal drip) lead to me swallowing way too much air last night.

Post nasal drip is a major cause of sore throat. That's why I use Nasonex nightly.
