Help with Encore Viewer please...
Help with Encore Viewer please...
First I noticed that I had graphs missing from the last day or two.
Go to cpaptalk and find out I am supposed to format the card once a week...
After I re-formatted my smart card (first I did the "save card"), I put it back in the machine.
The next day I could no longer see any data previous to the format in Encore Viewer.
Am I supposed to format the card then put the data back on it?
Thanks for your help.
Stacy

Re: Help with Encore Viewer please...
I have been using my card for 62 days, I have not reformatted and do not plan to. I'm not sure why "THEY" say to reformat weekly.
Once you format all will be erased just like formatting a hard drive, if you want the info on the card you will need to upload the data back to the card.
There has been some problems with missing data, do a search, so far I have not had that problem so I can't advise on that.

Re: Help with Encore Viewer please...
I never format my card either. Using it without a hitch, glitch or missing data since June 4.
Masks I've tried but didn't like :
FlexiFit HC405 - couldn't stop the leaks

Hmmm... I wonder how much data that card can hold?
Next time I will try putting the data back on the formatted card.
Who knows? Maybe it will work?

Re: Help with Encore Viewer please...
I also went for several months without formatting my card as all my sleep info was captured and displayed on Encore Viewer, day after day. Then, it happened. I (the machine) lost an evening's data, then another one the following night. It was fine for another few weeks, then it started again, and I decided to do what the veterans hereabouts were recommending...that is, weekly formatting the smartcard.
I save my data in pdf form using cutepdf (it's a free download), then format using MYCPAP (another free download). Works great, life's good.

Re: Help with Encore Viewer please...
Once you copy the accumulated data from the card to your PC, you can format the card; the data is now on your PC and doesn't need to be on the card any longer (it doesn't need to be copied back to the card). If you don't see the data in Encore Viewer after formatting, most likely you either didn't copy the data from the card before formatting it, or you don't have the date range set right when you generate the report.
If you go for extended periods without losing data, congratulations. It seems many will eventually find that they're losing sessions from time to time.

OK thanks everybody.
I did copy the card, I can see the file it created in My Documents. I probably just need to move it to somewhere that Encore Viewer can find it. That shouldn't be too difficult to figure out for an IT Manager
Thanks,
Stacy

How are you copying the data? If you do it with Encore Viewer, it should be putting the data where it knows to look for it. I think I'm missing something here.
I'm an IT manager too. You know there's a reason they give us Etch-A-Sketches and tell us they're laptops.

Re: Help with Encore Viewer please...
I had copied the card image with the "My CPAP Card utility." Encore Viewer reset the start date on the report after I formated the card, so... um ... actually all the data is still there. My bad, thanks to all who responded.... I was wondering why my laptop only has two large white knobs!!!

You can't use Encore Viewer to read data save from the The My CPAP Card utility. The best you can do it load it back on the Smart Card and have Encore Viewer load it off itsself.
