Mask suggestions
I'm looking for a better-fitting mask.
I have a Quattro medium, which fits very well, except at the top of my nose. My nose is fairly high at the bridge, so the top corner of the mask is just barely deep enough. A good seal requires it to be too tight, causing marks, iritation, blemishes.
I expect that a Large would fit at the bridge, but be too large overall.
I've tried a Comfort Plus, which seemed to fit well at first, but leaked like crazy under pressure. Other problems: the exhaust ports are inadequate to allow full exhalation under pressure within normal breath cadence, and the side walls aren't rigid, so the facial-massage sensation is extreme. What were they thinking?
I have zero tolerance for weight on my upper lip, so the nasal and pillow/prong systems are out. I've tried two incarnations of the Breeze, and the Swift. I thought the cushions of the latter would support the mask on my cheek bones, but just proved to be a pivot point.
Is there hope for me, or am I doomed?
My new machine, loving it, is an Auto M with AFlex, range 10 to 15.
Complete with card, reader, Encore viewer, secret handshake.

Re: Mask suggestions
Maybe the Ultra Mirage?
I heard it was supposed to handle leaks pretty well.

Re: Mask suggestions
I have both a Quattro and an Ultra Mirage, both small, and although the fit is somewhat different, and I do find the UM leaks less readily, the fit at the nose seems exactly alike to me.

Have you tried wearing the mask a little higher on your face to see if that has a positive effect?

Re: Mask suggestions
I agree, move mask up on face until lower part hits bottom of nose, often this helps

Re: Mask suggestions
The Ultra Mirage is on my list, perhaps the DME would let me try one?
The Respironics Total might also work.
I am talking about full face masks, having the bottom of it touch my nose would be quite a funny look.
The leak-free sweet spot is very narrow, not much wiggle room on placement with this mask and my nose.

I'm getting a Mirage Quatrro medium on Tuesday. I've never tried it, but many people on this board seem to like it. The DME says its the most popular full-face mask, lighter than my Comfort Gel. If I don't like it, I'll go back to the Comfort Gel which is working OK, but I do have to readjust the fit throughout the night. That could be do to my head movement though.

I like the quattro, mostly. Its the best I've had so far, but still looking for improvement.Jason S. wrote:I'm getting a Mirage Quatrro medium on Tuesday. Just like treatment, according to the software my digits look good, but I still wake up at least once during the night, and then wake up for good after about 5 hours total. I usually allow for seven, but it never happens. Something still needs fixing. And my doc is booked six weeks out.
Re: Mask suggestions
Respironics has just released a new mask called the Fit Life that looks much better than the Total Face. I just saw if tonight and don't know if the DMEs have it yet.

Cool.
Wonder what the diffs are between fit life and total face?
I already call the cpap my Darth Vader machine... waiting for a mask like his.

At first glance, I said: "WOW! I want one of those!!!" then I thought about it for a minute. It may be good for someone who sleeps on their back and doesn't move all night, but I sleep on my sides, flipping back and forth between left & right all night long. That mask looks like it would dig into my face pretty seriously.
