Help Blowfish alert!!!!

Post by dixieblue12 » Tue Jun 16, 2009 10:06 am

I have had my Bi-pap machine for almost a year. Everything has gone really well until last nite. My mouth kept filling up with air!! Woke up this morning and felt horrible, a massive headache, I feel really shaky inside and feel bloated! Has anyone experienced this before?
I do wear a chinstrap and I do tape my mouth. I never felt like a blowfish before it is not a good feeling! lol

I think some people actually use the leg of women's tights to form a band around the head at the cheeks level. I haven't ever tried that but will if I ever need to.

Dixieblue - are you taking any medications that you don't usually take? I found that cough medicine with dextromethorphan made me have some trouble in regard to air-swallowing, and having my tongue-seal open more easily. I think it made my muscles more relaxed.
Why does everyone else post cutesy avatars, and I'm the only one who posts a picture of myself?

Dixie.....

Did the air blow past your tape? If so, you need to discover why it did so.

I'm the one who uses the panty-hose-tights over my 3M #2080 Blue 2" tape. If you need design info, let me know.

Finally, another thing that happened is this: Your tongue is usually parked in the roof of your mouth with the tip just behind your upper front teeth. If, last night, it fell away from that position, that may be what caused the blow-out.

Probably the reason you felt crappy is because I'd bet your O2 saturation fell way off last night......and you probably had some bad apneas.

Thank you all for repling, and giveing me the advice. My leak rate is .78%. I am not on any new medicine, although i am on Lyrica, which can make arms and legs swell. I called my DME, and she came over to check my machine(she spoils me), she thought maybe gastric retension. I called my doctor with her here, he lowered my pressure from 22/16 to 18, don't know what the bottom number is yet. I can't change my pressure, so DME will be here tommorow to change it. My AH was for last nite 0.0 and my AHI was 2.5.
thanks for all you're help
