My Comfortlite broke, now I love it!

Totoro, here. It's been a while (hard-drive crash, new job, got engaged). Back in the Spring when my Comfortlite was falling apart, I took the plunge and ordered a ComfortCurve, which turned out to be a total disaster and I was forced to go back to my old Comfortlite.

Then a funny thing happened. Shortly after that, the part that connected the hose to the top-of-the-head part of my Comfortlite broke completely. Grumbling with frustration in the middle of the night, I used some rubber bands to fasten the thing back on so it wouldn't tug around, and went back to sleep.

Over the following week I gradually began to realize I was sleeping better, MUCH better! The rubber bands are just strong enough to hold the hose in place, and they are flexible enough to compensate for my movements and pressure from my pillow, and eliminate the tugging on my nostrils that had been one of my main complaints with the Comfortlite. Now I hardly notice the mask is there.

When I realized what was going on, I immediately thought of clever, resourceful Rested Gal and her pioneering work with the Aura. Compared to many on this thread, I'm a newbie, but I know a queen when I see one, and I respectfully lower my head in Rested Gal's direction.

Most of the posting I've done on this thread (and the other one), has been griping and warning people not to buy the crap that I bought. The ComfortLite still blows air directly onto my fiancee's face when she comes over, so I'll be switching eventually, probably to the Aura, but it's nice to have some good news for a change. I'm sleeping well.
Cheers to all.

Your words are much too kind, Totoro, but sounds like you sure came up with a cool fix! It's good that you posted that. Might help others with that interface.

It sounds almost like the kind of "fix" snork did with velcro or something when he was working with his ComfortLite. Something about a swivel on top was giving him trouble, as best I can remember.

Glad the interface is suiting you well, Totoro. Happy sleeping!

yup, thats pretty much my fix. I replaced the rigid connection with a piece of elastic wrapped around that location, and it VASTLY improved the comfortlite.

I was thinking about breaking out the old comfortlite and trying it again now that my nose is working better and my pressure is running lower. I might have to dig into the closet and find it. As soon as I can wear something on top of my head after the melanoma divots heal up on my head from today's checkup and carving.

Maybe if I try the comfortlite again, I can remember why I stopped using it....
