Your machine can not tell what caused you to stop breathing, and its designers decided not to let it respond to any standalone (aka frank) apnea whatsoever. Those events may well have been obstructive. And they are a few seconds short (well, long...) of being non-events - another indication that you're in the right pressure vicninity.
O.
Ozij, do you think it best that I not chase after those apneas, in case they aren't really obstructive? I would want to have more pressure in my lungs if I do happen to be having a central here and there. I feel great, so why fix what ain't broke?
I also talked to a ResMed clinician who recommended that I leave those alone and not increase pressure since my AI is now always below 1.0. She said that if it were her, she wouldn't worry about my HI being at 7-8.

I had a great night's sleep last night. Leakage was down to 0.14 L/s! My AHI was 5.8; AI was 1.0; HI was 4.8.

WOO HOO!!! Kenny.
That, plus the way you feel, is the best proof you need.

Awesome! Just Awesome!!!
Did you do anything to get the leakage down that low? Taping again?

Only two things changed:
- I went to the gym (30 minutes moderate exercise).
- Tightened my chinstrap just a little.
Same pressure, mask and tape over my nose ring hole (LOL). I'm inclined to think that the latter had more to do with it, but I know good exercise = good sleep.
Strangely enough, shortly after my last post, I got a little run of tachycardia (94-100 bpm), but I think it was brought on by something I ate. For some reason Morning Star Farms (vegetarian) products seems to trigger that in me. I must be sensitive to an ingredient they use. Nonetheless, it's starting to pass, and I used my new CBT techniques to prevent me from going into a panic attack!

Supposedly, but I think it's funny that today I had a mini panic attack (food related). However, I slept like a baby last night!

Hey Kenny, just thought of a good remedy for those panic attacks, just go back to the beginning of your thread and see how far you've come in such a short time. You're awesome and getting awesomer(not a word?)!

Good one DoriC! And, you're right. I should go back and read the first few pages for Compare & Contrast!
YOU are the

What I find interesting about last night, and I believe the night before is that all but one apnea happened AFTER a leak resolved. Could that be from the machine trying to recover pressure?

Results for 3/17/2009:
Leakage: 0.16 L/s
Pressure (95%): 12.4 cm
AHI: 4.3
AI: 0.4
HI: 3.9
Last night was great, but I can't remember the usage. I went to sleep at 10 pm, woke up once at 2 am for some water, fell right back asleep, woke up again at 4 am for a second only to fall right back asleep until 6:30 am.
I like this trend!
Feel a little lightheaded today, but I think that my BP meds might be too much now. I'll have to check it when I get home.

Anybody have any idea why almost all my apneas seem to be happening before and after the leaks? One would think they would happen more during the larger leaks, no?
Two nights ago I apparently had an apnea that lasted 21 seconds!
Last night my chinstrap slipped so my leak rate went up to 0.26 L/s. Funny thing is, I don't feel THAT bad today. Is it me or does it seem like there are a lot of newbies on the board. I think that great since it means they will be getting treatment.

I'm proud to be one of those newbies - really have enjoyed your thread here, Kenny. We're the same height/weight and we must shop at the same place for dress shirts (17 1/2", 32/33!) While I might be a few years younger and not have panic attacks, it's nice to see a young guy "like me". Your equipment is also EXACTLY what I'm trying to get. Currently prescribed a straight CPAP machine, but I'm fighting to have the script changed to APAP.
Hoping to get my gear next Wednesday. DME books 2+ weeks in the future to get your equipment.. yeesh!

Hey, Chris, welcome aboard! I'm only five weeks out, so I guess I'm technically still a newbie, although I feel like I've been on here forever. Maybe we're long lost relatives who share a common gene: neck/sleeve size!
Even though I have nothing to compare it to, except the lab machine which is some FrankenRespironics, I love my ResMed! Let us know how you're progressing.
