SINUS AGGRIVATION

Post by BEECHER » Wed Oct 22, 2008 8:53 pm

I have been using a cpap for several years, different ones, and am now using one with a humidifier. I wake up with a runny nose, and sinus inflamed, and often have a sinus infection and take antibotics. I have to use one, because i wake up loosing my breath. I have tried sleeping with a small football in a back pack, so i wouldn't turn over on my back. HELP

I wouldn't turn the humidifier up too high, irritants in your nasal passages lead to irritation and infections,

Maybe try a rhino rinse with saline solution like Neilmed, another option might be a bacteria filter for your
machine, goes inline with the machine and hose:

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

Steroid nose spray, antiallergy meds (claritin, zyrtec etc. etc.) might help. Ask your doc for these.

Beecher, you posted the topic before I asked I'm taking zyrtec, using RhinoTip twice a day with the Neilsmed Saline solution. Snoredog, thanks for the tip on the In-line Outlet Bacteria Filter. I'll pass it on to my Doctor, he might not know...

Beecher, in the middle of the night, I have hypopnea flags bunched together, four or five, and sometimes I'm taking the mask off. I would have to assume when my sinuses swell and clog, I'm literally choking for air and the BiPap is registering it as Hypopneas.

So, is this throwing my reports off with hypopneas due to clogged sinuses and a taped mouth?? How can the BiPap discern between your throat closing and clogged nasal passages?? Huffing for air either way...
