Activa nasal mask
Activa nasal mask
Has anyone tried the Activa mask, I like that it doesn't leak and I like the fit, but it's a little heavy. I also notice that when I wake up in the morning I don't feel rested using it. Almost like I didn't have enough pressure through the night. I don't understand, it doesnt leak, so why would this be? My other mask leaks and I feel more rested when I use it more than the Activa.

Re: Activa nasal mask
Are you sure that the activa isn't leaking?
Please fill in your profile with mask, machine, software(if you have it), add in your pressure. It will help you get better answers. Also let us know which mask gives you the more rested feeling in the a.m.. Maybe the second mask has a higher exhaust rate?
Could the second mask be a full face mask? Maybe you're mouth breathing with the activa?

Hi Brenda, I don't know how to get to the profile. Can you please tell me where to find it? Thanks.

Re: Activa nasal mask
The larger volume inside the Activa might affect your treatment pressure, especially if you use a pressure near 7cm or less.
Re: Activa nasal mask
So do you think I should increase the pressure with this mask? I have it on Auto-Pap, but it starts out at 7 and can
go up to 12.
Thanks
go up to 12.
Thanks

Re: Activa nasal mask
My question would be - if your average is 8.5cm, why are you starting the minimum pressure at 6.5cm ?
I haven't heard of increasing pressure to compensate for the mask's intentional leak rate - because that will also increase when you raise the pressure!

Re: Activa nasal mask
I thought you should start it lower than your average, so when you prepare for sleep it's not to high for the first 10 to 15 min, How is yours set?echo wrote:My question would be - if your average is 8.5cm, why are you starting the minimum pressure at 6.5cm ?

Re: Activa nasal mask
My titrated pressure is 10cm, my flow generator is set at 8-13. I spend about 60% of the time at 8, occasionally the pressure will spike at a little over 12. The main thing is that I feel rested when I get out of bed. Some have complained about the Activa pulsating on their face like an octipus. For me, the pulsing stops at around 7cm.
Both of my Activas have been modified to have the swivel at the elbow a la Ultra Mirage,(another frequently used interface) for use with a cuffless hose. I have found the cuffless hose to work much better than the short auxiliary (small cuffed) hose that comes with the Activa.
If you get the chance, you might want to try the Fisher & Paykel, FlexiFit 407.

O.k. thank you, If I set my Autopap at 10 will it only start at 10 and above or how does that work?nosbig17 wrote:My titrated pressure is 10cm, my flow generator is set at 8-13. Re: Activa nasal mask
I had the same problem when I started. I felt like I wasn't getting enough air at lower pressures (it wasn't so much not getting enough air as it was feeling like I was rebreathing the exhaled air caught in my mask). I was told to bump my minimum pressure (from 6 cm) to 7cm, and the problem went away.
If you set your auto with a minimum of 10 cm, that is where it will start. You can use the ramp feature to "ease" into the pressure at the beginning of the night.

Re: Auto Low - High pressure settings
If your machine is set up for auto use, a low and high pressure is indicated. So, when you go to sleep you will be cruising along with the low pressure therapy, When the machine detects as event coming on the pressure will be increased until the event passes or until the dilled-in high pressure is reached.
