I have been on a bipap since April 26, 2008. Some nights I toss and turn a lot and the bipap machine bounces on the floor. I use the humidifier in bypass mode and of course there is a little clean up necessary before I go back to sleep. Since bipap must sense inhalations and exhalations, would a longer hose cause problems? Anyone solve this problem without using duct tape, nails, etc. ?

6 ft hose too short
longer hoses exist , or use a hose extension. as long as there are no leaks at the interfaces, i don't think that it would cause a problem... but maybe someone else can confirm that for sure.
getting the bipap off the floor and closer to the bed may also help. I put mine on a plastic box next the bed, with a towel under my cpap in case the HH decides to leak.
inside the drawer of a nightstand also works (make sure to keep the drawer slighly open so that there is still good air circulation). Though if you really do toss and turn a lot, and end up pulling the drawer out of the nightstand, you might have a much bigger mess

My bipap is on the nightstand, as close as possible to my bed. I turned it around so that the hose port is facing the bed, therefore no hose is wasted by routing the hose to the rear of the bipap. I like your idea of the extension, I can disconnect it when I travel and not have to squeeze a long hose into the carrying case.

Some masks also have a 2ft hose attached to the mask. My experience is that after 10 ft the machine may not recognize some events. For me, I opt for 2 hoses - one for travel.Goofproof wrote:A 10 foot hose is the manufacters recommended max length. Jim
If you have the F&P HC150 you can use that short 2ft hose if you get a connector. I have one the hose will go inside of so as to not reduce the flow thru that part.
Good Luck,
