Kevin,
Most users of this forum probably looked at the subject, saw the machine name, and decided to leave it to the few of us who own a PB...

However, your's is a mask change question - if you change the thread title(being the author you can do to that when you edit) you'll get answers from those who have made a similar mask switch.

You might find a graph in the mask's documentation that will show you what leak to expect at which pressure.

And I've heard there's a problematic leaky elbow in the quattro.
A titlle like "high pressure/leak on quattro?" will bag you many more answers from those who know.

makes perfect sense to me, much easier for the CPAP pressure to push your tongue out of the hole when that pressure comes in from the nares at the top,

when using a FF mask it has to come in the mouth if nares are blocked and attempt to push the tongue away from the palate then get behind the tongue and back of the throat to push it out of the way.

Think about it, you are laying on your back, gravity not helping the situation, if you are snoring on inhale like most of us do and the tongue slams back into the hole as you are inhaling it now has to be dislodged.

Keep in mind your tongue is attached to the back side of the chin, so it has much more leverage to push the tongue out of the way when said pressure comes in from the nares.

You always get better therapy via the nares, if you are having nasal congestion problems the best thing to do is get that fixed.

The 420e has never been certified to work with any full face mask.

someday science will catch up to what I'm saying...

Hi Kevin,

I agree with Ozij, you'll get more responses if you change the title of your post. I use the 420E and the Headrest nasal pillows and occasionally some other nasal/hybrid masks. What I notice is the leak rate goes way up with any other mask, and the pressure goes up accordingly. The leaks are nice on a hot summer night, but not so good for the therapy. Do you look at your data? Is this true for your case?

Take Care,
Cathy

The 420E has never been certified to work with any mask not made by Puritan Bennett.

Companies only certify their machines to work with their own masks - they don't want to support the competition.

Puritan Bennett does not make any full face masks.
