I purchased a Respironics M series Auto with A-flex. The difference between the machines is like night and day.

Ain't it, though!! Feels like breathing out into an empty hose. Soooo comfortable.

I had that experience once.......woke up and the power had gone out.
I was breathing in AND out on an empty hose.

I agree rested gal. It WAS like breathing into an empty hose. It took 2 nights to get used to the feeling of not having to fight with the pressure. I hope I never have to use my old PAP as a backup.

I had a F&P Cpap machine for 6 years, still going strong but I've bought an M series A-flex. My supplier told me that Respironics design their machines to last for 12 to 14 years, thats maybe pushing it but I have heard some other people having had a very long run from them.

I have a Respironics Sleep Easy Cpap that I purchased in 1984. I remember I used it quite a while before replacing it. I think it was my second machine. I plugged it in a month ago and it blew like a champ. Respironics machines seem to last a long time. The technology was s a lot different then. It has no adjustments on the machine except on and off. Pressure was controlled at the mask. They sold you a different mask for each pressure. There was a belt between the motor and blower that would wear and slip and whine until you replaced it. I will post some pictures sometime so that you will appreciate what you have now.

Wow Laura, hardly recognized you, great picture. I have a Bipap Pro and I've had it replaced 3 times. It would stop for no reason and then start back up. When it got to several times a night and would awaken me, I had to turn it in. This brings up the warranty issue some have spoken of. With the 2 year warranty, they usually ship a refurbished machine so you will get it faster. It also carries a new 2 year warranty like a new one. Example, you've had one 1 year and 10 months and have to return it. You get a refurbished with a new 2 year warranty extending from the time you get the replacement machine. Therefore, you actually have a 3 year 10 month warranty. I don't really know why these three machines were stopping as I had a seperate circuit and a ground fault circuit interrupter installed for it. Now looking back, what I believe was the problem was a faulty breaker. Sometimes you would have to hold it on for a few seconds until it locked on. I believe the breaker was flickering off and on enought to stop the machine and then back on. Nothing else would go off. Now, with the latest machine, I get puffs of air like popping corn. It usually does stop and I fall sleep. If I go to the bathroom and turn it back on, the puffing starts back up and eventually tapers off. I may see about returning it. I'm odd, I like mine to operate the way it is supposed to for $1500. (Which is less than half what DME's want).
