1 Tylenol PM tablet enables me to sleep throughout the night. Better than melatonin, or anything else that I have tried.
Any danger to taking 1 Tylenol PM every night?

Me
Before CPAP, my doctor recommended taking Benadryl (or Pamprin when the edema's bad) at night to help me sleep.
Since CPAP, I haven't had a chance to discuss whether this is still a good idea or not. Guess I ought to give her a call.

Re: Tylenol PM
Probably not. But it is most likely the diphenhydramine (Benadryl) that causes you to sleep.dewey.bertolini wrote:1 Tylenol PM tablet enables me to sleep throughout the night. Better than melatonin, or anything else that I have tried.

Why not buy Benadryl (generic diphenhydramine) and skip the acetaminophen in Tylenol PM? Acetaminophen affects liver functions and is bad in larger doses.

Yup, what Rooster said.
With the added reassurance that one dose of, what is it? 500 mg of acetaminophen a day is not going to harm your liver and is less risky than Excedrin PM.
Excedrin is an NSAID and more likely to irritate or harm the digestive tract and has the same "sleep" ingredient as Tylenol PM.
I have Crohn's disease, a chronic inflammation of the digestive tract, and am not allowed to take NSAIDs nor aspirin. We are advised to take Tylenol instead as being more safe.

Wasnt it in a post on here somewhere that I read, the PM in Tylenol is Benedryl?
I am sure that I read it somewhere on here, but I could be mistaken...
