Beeps during the night
Beeps during the night
This past week my C-Flex Remstar Pro has been beeping during the night. It shuts itself off twice last night. My wife tells me that my seal has not been broken when the beeping starts , then stops beeping and continues to work fine ... I also notice my throat is soar some mornings..
does this sound right??

You don't have your profile filled in, so we have no idea of what you use or how. WAG, Nasal Mask, Mouthbreathing, leaK rate high???? Any or all of these things going on? Jim

Sounds like the "Auto Off" function is turned ON. I'd highly recommend that you turn it OFF.
I would also assume that your have the M Series Pro. If you don't have the setup instructions, you can use this abreviated version to get into it.
Hold down the <- -> buttons while plugging in the little power cord in the back, wait for 2 beeps release buttons. Then press the + key to enter setup mode, use the <- -> buttons to move to the next field, use the -/+ keys to decrease/increase values, when set press the On/Off button to exit Setup.
OR, you can download the .pdf version from:

As Den says Auto Off needs set to off. Your machine can't collect useful data, maybe the nasal mask or your mouth are leaking or shallow breathing could set it to stop. If you mouthbreath you may not get the treatment you need, you have to be able to hold in the pressure for it to keep your airway open. Jim

Now it says you have a "Classic" Plus w/C-Flex.Tdinova wrote:There we go .... sorry about that..
It that's the one, then you need these instructions:
Go to #10 - Patient disconnect setting
.
REMstar Plus CPAP w/C-Flex
1. With the machine plugged into a wall outlet, unplug the cord from the back of the CPAP. Then, press and hold down the two user buttons below the display screen while plugging the cord back into the CPAP, and continue to hold the buttons down until the CPAP beeps. This will indicate that the CPAP is in the Therapy Setup Menu.
2. The display will first show the number of hours the machine has been used. To erase this total and begin again at zero, press and hold the ramp or humidifier button. An “X” will appear on the display. Hold the button down until the time change to “0” and the “X” disappears.
To skip this setting or continue, press the right user button.
3. The elevation setting will appear next. To change this setting, press the ramp or humidifier button until the correct setting appears. Here are the elevation settings: 1 = less than 2,500 ft.; 2 = 2,500 to 5,000 ft.; 3 = 5,001 to 7,500 ft.
To skip this setting or continue, press the right user button.
4. The therapy mode will appear, either CPAP or CFLEX. To change this setting, press the ramp or humidifier button until the correct setting appears.
To skip this setting or continue, press the right user button.
5. The CPAP pressure will appear. To change this setting, press the ramp or humidifier button until the correct setting appears.
To skip this setting or continue, press the right user button.
6. The CPAP fine adjustment setting will appear. This setting allows you to calibrate your CPAP pressure to a manometer. We suggest you do not try to adjust this setting.
To skip this setting or continue, press the right user button.
7. The CFLEX setting will appear if you selected the CFLEX mode in number 4 above. A setting of 1 offers the least drop in pressure, 3 offers the most. To change this setting, press the ramp or humidifier button until the correct setting appears.
To skip this setting or continue, press the right user button.
8. The ramp time will appear next. It may be set for 0 to 45 minutes in 5 minute increments. To change this setting, press the ramp or humidifier button until the correct setting appears.
To skip this setting or continue, press the right user button.
9. The ramp starting pressure will appear. To change this setting, press the ramp or humidifier button until the correct setting appears.
To skip this setting or continue, press the right user button.
10. The patient disconnect setting will appear. This sounds an alarm when there is a mask leak and turns the airflow off. 1 = On; 2 = Off. To change this setting, press the ramp or humidifier button until the correct setting appears.
There are no other settings available. Press the pressure start/stop button to exit the menu or press the right user button to scroll through the settings again.

If you set it to "2" - OFF, then you should NOT hear any beeping if your mask develops a large leak or if your breathing becomes too shallow.Tdinova wrote:After I set the feature to '0' i started the machine and left it run with the mask attached but not on me. If you get up during the night for bathroom breaks, be sure to turn your machine off while you're gone. If you had a machine that collected data, I'd recommend that you turn off the machine before removing your mask (it's still a good idea anyway).
This is all assuming that that setting is what was causing the machine beeping and turning off. If that doesn't do it, there may be other "issues" with the machine itself......but I THINK this has been the problem.
Just looked at your mask......
If you're having a large mouth leak (your sore throat is a clue), this could have been what was causing the leaks to trigger the shut down. You want to make sure your mouth is sealed. Tape it shut, Polident adhesive strips or a full face mask. Some chin straps have been known to work for some, but not a conclusive solution.
Good luck,
Den
Well, I made it through the night.. There is no # 2 just 1 and 0,,, I slept so-so but I think that's because I was use to being awake and sleep 1/2 the night. The machine did no beeping and had no sore throat, so that's a help .. I also raised my humidifier to #4 to give it a bit more moisture.
Thanks for all the time spent by you people in helping me... I'll post more info another day after abit more data is in my head..
thanks again
