Adusting RemStar Auto w/CFlex

Post by 2HL » Thu Apr 28, 2005 3:07 pm

The veteran's hospital issued me a RemStar Auto w/CFlex machine. I had previously used a Resmed Autoset Spirit which had a max. pressure of 12 cm. H2O set by the Doc's prescription. I asked the respiratory therapist to set the RemStar Auto the same way and she said that "it was not needed and the machine would give me exactly what I need". Problem is that 12 cm. of pressure is all my ear drums can stand. I would just like to be able to adjust this machine to limit pressure just like the Resmed Autoset Spirit which was working great for me. I have talked to the folks at the VA hospital a number of times and get the same reply. I get the impression that they don't know how to adjust the pressure. I understand that only a tech or Doc is supposed to adjust the machine but the VA hospital is over a 200 mile round trip for me just to make an adjustment that problably takes less than 5 minutes like it did on my Autoset Spirit. I would appreciate it if someone could explain to me how to adjust my RemStar Auto. Thanks in advance for your help.

Unplug the plug from the back of the unit. Holed down the gray adjustment buttons, while holding these down, reinsert the plug in the back of the machine. This will talk you into the program mode.

You want AFLE setting (auto with c-flex)
I would set C-flex at 3
and you are able to adjust your min/max settings in this program mode.

Hope this helps.

Thanks! You saved me 15 gallons of diesel fuel and LOTS of running around in circles at the VA hospital.

For me, setting the CFLEX to 3 was too high. At higher pressures, it was like the machine would start driving my breathing, instead of reacting to how i was breathing. A setting of 2 works much more naturally for me.
