M-series humidifier stops working
Lightsaver, I hope that cures your humidifier problem. However, I've read that others got theirs working again too, only to have it fail again.

Time for me to jump back in. The last replacement I had went until about May 16 - two and a half months - before it died. DME decided to try to repair it this time. Picked up the repaired unit on Fri May 25. It worked for a couple hours that night but the light was blinking when I woke up on the 26th. Grrrrrrrrrr. Went back in today and was told that from now on (if it should happen again), I'll get a new unit every time (they won't even send the DME parts to attempt the repair). I'm really hoping Respironics will figure out the problem - I've got other things I'd like to be doing on my lunch hour instead of exchanging humidifiers. Though I like the M-series cpap, the heated humidifier appears to become a piece of garbage.

Seems to me that you've got something else going on there besides the humidifier. The frequency that you are having problems seems way out of line of what others are seeing...

Woke up with a dry mouth this morning. Then I checked the tank on the humidifier and it still had plenty of water in it. I then noticed that the light was out on the humidier knob. I unplugged and replugged the machine and the light on the knob came on for only a second and then went out again. I guess I'll have to go to APRIA today and see what they're going to do. Anybody had any experience with Apria on this matter?
Thanks.

Have you checked your power? Are you using a Surge Suppressor?
I've seen problems like this before with computers (I do tech support for a living). The oddest one was a computer that refused to start, crashed if you tried to boot off CD. It gave me a bad HD error. I swapped it out with another drive, and then another system board. Still wouldn't start.
Pulled the machine back to my workbench. Started right up. Put back the original parts. No issues. Bring it back to the customer & same problems. Surge suppressor/batter says current is fine. Started it up off the battery -- It started fine.
Got an electrician. The building had multiphase power, and one phase was incorrectly grounded.

The Force? Duct Tape is the Force. It has a light side & a dark side & holds the whole damn univers together!

Follow-up on Apria visit. Hi again. Called Apria this AM and they had another humidifier in stock, went up to Bethlehem to pick it up and the people bent over backwards for me. Even let me keep the original water container. I know they've gotten a lot of bad press but the Apria in Bethlehem, PA is top-notch.

You are lucky, it's usually the customer that gets bent over. Jimpastorgilbert wrote:Follow-up on Apria visit. Hi again. And I'm back again. No, I don't (yet) have a surge protector. And this time they are looking at the power situation (since my problems seem to be a little more frequent than the norm). Seems strange to me that such a thing might be the problem, but y'all are suggesting it too so it could be. But why does my clock radio, sound machine (creeks, rain, white noise, etc), CPAP, and occassional fan, all run just fine off the same outlet? Always have for 16+ years (except for the CPAP which is just since last Oct). Oh well, they're tearing apart the humidifier to see if there are signs of an electrical problem. We'll see what they say. You may be on to something.
You betcha. If you PM me, I'll even set you up with the decoder ring and send you a video of the secret handshake.jennmary wrote:Am I in with the gang? Can we have pink as our color and make a mask sign around our mouth as our gang sign?
Doug.

Just for your information, I contacted Respironics and they informed me that the humidifier was only warranted for 1 Year. "m" CPAP has 2 years. Humidifier chamber only has a 90 Day warranty.

So the saga continues. Humidifier went out on me the last weekend in June. They "repaired" it again. I've consulted an electrician. Voltage runs a constant 117. Wiring is tested and found to be done correctly. Installed a GFCI (not likely to make any difference, but it is one more piece of protection in the circuit) and add a surge protector. I start running the humidifier at the 2 setting just to be sure I'm not running it too hot (was using 3 - fortunately I'm not noticing any difference).
Nice try. After two weeks of use it goes out again this past weekend. This time they've got the whole unit (cpap and humidifier) to test.
I'm getting close to asking for another machine.

I had an "M" series CPAP for one week. The humidifier stopped working after 2 days. I contacted DME numerous times without a callback. Finally went and turned in all equipment and switched DME providers.
One of the reasons I went with the ResMed was because of the bad humidifier in the Respironics that I had only used for a few days.
Have had no issues with the S8 Vantage...I love it.
If I were you, I would get the F&P humidifier and stop messing with the M series one.
JMHO.
