Well aparently the lady at the VA had to eat a little crow today. I got a call from the sleep lab at the VA telling me they wanted to schedual my mask fitting and to recive my machine and that they only give them out on tuesdays. I informed her that I was leaving on tuesday for california and wouldent be back till march 8th. She said "oh, thats not good" "Well sir is there any time befor you leave that you can come in?" I have to go that direction tomorrow to drop off my son so the lady agreed to make me an appointment for 2:00pm tomorrow! YEAH!!!
So apparently the doctor that was suposed to be gone untill feb 28th magicly re-apeared, or someone else looked at my charts and agreed with the sleep tech on the severity, or the lady was full of it and was just trying to sluff me off like everyone else.
So I guess I was bad enough for a little special treetment? I am just soooo glad I will have my machine before I leave for California. I would be mortified to be on a business trip sharing a room with someone else I dont know well and keeping them up all night. Plus the energy boost I expect to recive is just what I need on this trip. I will be doing a lot of promotions work all day and evning, I need that good sleep, not the case of energy drinks it normaly takes to keep me going.
Any last advice before my appointment tomorrow?
WOO HOO!!! Fitting tomorrow!!!
Bring a pillow and blanket! Make sure to try on the mask with the machine at your set pressure...while you lay down (on the floor if need be)! If your mask won't work for you, or isn't comfortable enough to sleep in the machine won't matter. Don't just lay still, roll around a bit. Make sure the mask stays on and doesn't leak or dig into your nose or face.
If you get a nasal mask be sure to get ayr gel for the sore nares that almost everyone has the first few nights.
I'm sure others will chime in with more tips.

I can understand your excitement. Pre cpap I used to drink 5 or 6 cans of Pepsi Max a day plus coffee for the caffeine hit as well. Just a word of caution, while many notice an immediate improvement in their energy levels, not everyone does, so don't get your hopes too high, in case you are one of those that has hiccups.
Good luck,
Peter

the people who do the fittings and hand out the machines are less than competant.
The fitting was more like heres your stuff now go away... no choices, I had to argue with them to get my heated humidifier, and was given very little information. Man I wish the sleep tech was there she was so informative.
Its ok though. I now have a M Pro with heated humidifier and a Profile Lite Nasal Gel Mask with Headgear.
I am headed to the store for some fleece to sew into a cover and some distilled water for my humidifier.
I hope I sleep good tonight... at least I got the gear and the wealth of knowledge here at CPAPTALK!!!!!
