Looking for Some Help With My OSCAR Data

Post by Selectstart » Sun Nov 01, 2026 6:10 pm

Hey everyone!

I'm fairly new to OSCAR and was hoping someone more experienced could take a look at my data and offer suggestions.

I've been using a ResMed AirSense 11 AutoSet with an AirFit N30i mask. I tried CPAP several years ago but couldn't tolerate it. Several months later, I had surgery to correct a deviated septum. I was also fitted for a dental device, which I used for around two years. I tested pillow masks and found that they provide good therapy, but my nose is too sensitive. They caused irritation and cuts on my nose

I went back to my ENT for a follow-up earlier this year because I was still having sleep issues. He recommended trying CPAP again and also testing combination therapy (CPAP + dental device).

My settings are:

- Pressure: 5–20
- EPR: 2, Full Time
- Humidity: 4
- Tube temperature: 84°F

I was originally diagnosed with mild obstructive sleep apnea. I also use a mandibular advancement device (MAD) every night along with my CPAP. The MAD hasn't been adjusted since I started combination therapy.

The frustrating part is that I don't seem to be feeling any better since starting CPAP again three months ago.

I'm consistently getting 8–9 hours of usage, but I still:

- Wake up multiple times during the night.
- Often wake around 4–5 AM and stay awake for 30–60 minutes before falling back asleep.
- Feel tired and sleepy in the morning.
- Experience occasional morning headaches and brain fog.
- Sometimes need a nap during the day.

I've noticed quite a few clear-airway events showing up in my data, which is something I'm trying to understand.

Here are two recent nights:

**October 30**
- AHI: 4.94
- Clear-airway index: 4.44
- Obstructive index: 0.12
- 95% pressure: 6.70
- 95% leak: 6.0

**October 31**
- AHI: 1.87
- Clear-airway index: 1.76
- Obstructive index: 0
- 95% pressure: 6.82
- 95% leak: 2.4

MyAir has also been showing around 38 central events per night over the past week.

I did an overnight oxygen recording while using CPAP, and my average oxygen was 96%, with a low of 90% and no time below 90%.

One thing I noticed is that I tightened my N30i mask a little more last night, and it seemed to help somewhat. My leak numbers were lower, but I still had clear-airway events.

I'm wondering if anyone sees anything interesting in these OSCAR screenshots.

A few things I'd love some feedback on:

- Do the clear-airway events look unusual?
- Do my pressure settings look reasonable?
- Is EPR 2 something worth looking into?
- Does anything stand out that might explain why I'm waking up so much?

I'm also following up with my sleep doctors, but I'd really appreciate some additional eyes on my data.

Thanks!

Did you sleep more soundly Oct 31 compared to the 30th?

I suspect that the centrals are more related to the wake ups than anything else. The machine can't tell if you are asleep or awake and often when we wake up during the night for some reason our breathing is more irregular and the machine flags awake breathing changes by mistake.
I call them false positives. LOL I see lots of them myself because I wake often from other health issues.

Look at this thread and I think you will understand what I mean.

Otherwise......do you take any medications of any kind even OTC...if so what?
And do you have any other physical or mental health issues that can or might mess with your sleep?

okay thanks! I'll check out that other thread. Yes, I take Vyvanse 50mg and Lexapro 5mg for ADHD and Anxiety. I usually take it in the morning. I also take a multivitamin, omega 3, and magnesium glycinate. It did seem like I got slightly better sleep on the 31st. However, I still woke up several times.

Vyvanse 50mg and Lexapro.....look up the common side effects for both ......both are well known for causing the side effects you mentioned.

I really suspect that your symptoms are more likely a side effect of poor sleep quality and not the cause of the poor sleep.
We see that often....meds causing unwanted symptoms and the wake ups are related to medications and then people see elevated central count and blame or worry about the centrals. Remember...if you aren't sound asleep anything flagged when you aren't asleep doesn't count for anything except to document poor sleep quality.

Thank you, I can definitely talk with my doctor about that. I didnt realize the medications could be contributing to it.

Another note about Oct 31st, I use the Fitbit air for some additional tracking. A common theme I've noticed is getting deep sleep during the first half of the night, then the fragmented wake ups, falling back to sleep, and not getting any additional deep sleep. I had my usual fragmented night last night, but I managed to get deep sleep afterwards. 77min of deep sleep last night compared to typical 30-45min over the last 30 days.
