Any room for improvement with my CPAP therapy?

Post by samhandwich » Wed Oct 02, 2024 3:13 pm

I've been on CPAP for a number of years now. While it has certainly helped I still often have to take naps, usually need to sleep for 9-ish hours, and just generally feel more tired than I would like. My sleep doc says my AHI is within normal range, and his only suggestion was to look into Inspire. I'm open to that, but from a bit of research it appears that it would likely be worse if anything.

I'm hoping that maybe the experts here could take a look at my OSCAR data and let me know if there's any room for improvement? Below are three "normal" nights for me. Any changes you would suggest? Is it worth trying to find another sleep doc, or is he right that this is the best we can do at this time?

Thank you!

If those were my charts, I would change the minimum pressure to 9.0 and leave the max at 20.0 and the EPR at 2. Observe what happens and possibly move the min up a little more.

Do you take any medications of any kind? If so, what?

Do you wake often during the night or sleep soundly for the most part?

Pristiq, in the morning.

I think overall I sleep pretty soundly.

Your medication belongs to a class of medications called SNRIs...and it's well known to have some rather ugly side effects.
You might want to read up on SNRIs and sleep stages and side effects.
Fatigue and sleepiness are common. It is also well known to affect sleep stages meaning sometimes it can diminish REM for one thing.

Something to think about.
