Is there any chance that if you tried to pronounce "DME" you would say "DUMMY." Seriously, those people drive me mad. I have Apria and everything is an issue. I stopped by to get new filters for my Cpap today since there's an Apria down the road from me. They told me I needed to make an appointment during "sleep therapy" hours. So I had to make an appointment to get a few filters. Arrghhh.

Yeah, well, Wright & Filippis (Indiana, Michigan, Ohio) are on a par w/Apria when it comes to "service" (?? what service??).

Wow! I'm impressed you can just pick up filters? I have never gotten more than one at a time! And then I had to beg for them. I am "allowed" one every 3 months and I have to keep track and remember to beg for them then. Of course it often requires that I call and remeind them because they forgot to send it! Stopping by always requires a 25 minute drive and, it miust be an appointment.

Who will be buying filters from cpap.com from here on out. I thought they must be extremely expensive! I was shocked to find out how reasonable the price is!

Joey,

Double check with your DME or insurance company because the filters used for your machine should be replaced every month, not every 3. Those are disposable filters and NOT washable ones. Please make sure your insurance company is aware of that fact. Also, ask to get 3 at a time as your DME is forgetful and it would save time and effort in the long run.

Good luck!

Mary

I have apria for a DME, they only allow 2 disposable filters each month and 2 washable every 6 months. They send no more than 2 at a time. Each month I have to call and order my filters. Then I have to call a week later and remind them. I've tried everything including talking to the ins co to get more than 2 at a time, the answer is always no.

They seem to have their own rules , one per three months. They do not give out extra's, trust me I've asked. I know I am not supposed to wash them but, I have and then I plce them in a clean food dehydrator to dry thoroughly. I am tired of this. I will be ordering from cpap.com as soon as I figure out which interface to order. Trying to learn more about the CL2 direct cusion. Thanks!

Hey Brenda,

That's good that at least you get 2 per month. I think Joey got wrong info regarding his filter replacements. Our machine don't have washable filters at all, just the disposable. When I go to my DME, they just give me a bag of 3 each time. You would think it would be a given that disposable filters have a set replacement schedule that is the same with all insurance companies.

Washing a non-washable filter is a poor idea. When a filter gets wet the fibers swell shut, causing the filter to restrict air flow more than if it's dirty.

This applys to car air filters too, if they say replace, they mean replace. You would be better off using it dirty. A air filter actually removes small size dirt particles the dirtier it gets, the problem comes when it can no longer move the required amount of air. Jim
