I have been using a Dremwear nasal mask. I have a Resmed Aircurve 10 ASV. The on screen sleep report usually shows a happy face for mask seal. But when I bring in the sleep data into the myAir app the mask seal score is often under 15, sometimes as low as 9 or 10. I have not loaded my data into OSCAR lately. Will OSCAR show me what might be causing the mask leaks with my current Dreamwear nasal?
My pulmonologist said that I could be breathing through my mouth so she suggested trying a chin strap or a Dreamwear full face. I opted to try the full face mask first. The Dreamwear full face is under recall so my DME said they could not order one and said that the Airfit F30i is similar so I ordered that one.
I can't pass the mask seal test with the F30i, thus my questions.
- I have a moustache and goatee beard which I didn't think about could cause a seal problem with the full face mask. Could that be the reason that I can't pass the mask seal test?
- The nasal pillow size I am using with the Dreamwear nasal is a medium so the DME sent me a medium for the F30i. Is it possible that the medium F30i full face is not a proper fit, or is it still the moustache and goatee that may be the seal problem?
- Since I have success with the Dreamwear nasal in size medium, would the full face in a medium have worked if I could have gotten the Dreamwear instead of the F30i?
I'm not sure if these can be answered but I'm looking for some guidance if possible. Meanwhile I am going to go back to my Dreamwear nasal and try a chin strap with it.

Re: Fit Question Airfit F30i
Resmed reports total leak.
This includes intentional leak.
If your leak number is consistently under 15,
it is perfectly acceptable.
Some leakage is necessary, and part of the design.

ResMed machines report unintentional leak only.chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Sun Oct 09, 2022 7:30 pmResmed reports total leak.

Vent rate/intentional leak is removed from the calculations before reporting leak numbers so all leak numbers shown on the machine or reports are unintentional leaks.
Now Respironics machines (and some other brands) do report total leak which is intentional leak plus unintentional leak.

What exactly is the myAir app reporting?bossfan wrote: ↑Sun Oct 09, 2022 6:28 pmI have been using a Dremwear nasal mask. I have a Resmed Aircurve 10 ASV. If what you are calling the "mask seal score" is the 95% leak rate, then there's a good chance that your leaks with the Dreamwear mask are actually well enough under control that you don't need to worry excessively about them unless they are waking you up or you report waking up a lot with dry mouth symptoms.
Looking at the leak data in OSCAR will let you see how often the leaks are actually occurring, how large individual leaks are, and how long individual leaks last. All of that can be somewhat useful in terms of trying to figure out if you have a significant problem with mouth leaks that you need to address.

So…what is an acceptable number for a ResMed leak?Pugsy wrote: ↑Sun Oct 09, 2022 8:34 pmResMed machines report unintentional leak only.chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Sun Oct 09, 2022 7:30 pmResmed reports total leak.
