H20 Temp vs Hose Temp vs Rain Out

Post by APAPNC » Sun Sep 12, 2021 6:53 pm

I've been waking up lately with a dry throat. I'm wondering about water temp vs hose temp to get the most moisture without H20 condensing in the hose. I have a Resmed Dreamstation set on 5 for H20 temp and hose temp is at max of 86. How low can I go on hose temp and not rain out?

Depends on your ambient bedroom temp.

I have a Resmed Dreamstation
Can you clarify what machine you have?

You have listed the Brand Name of one...with the model name of another brand name??
ResMed AirSense 10 AutoSet
Heated Hose
AirFit P10 Nasal Pillows

Most likely ResMed model of some sort.

Respironics DreamStation machines don't use degrees....they use setting choices 1 through 8 (I think). I don't recall ever seeing anything that explained what degree a setting of so and so delivers. Now it might be out there but I haven't seen it.

ResMed machines heated hoses use degrees and since OP mentions 86 degrees...I assume ResMed.

That makes sense - I'm not familiar with the DreamStation and its settings.

Any Who...for the OP...I'm just one example but I have the ResMed AirSense 10 Autoset.
I have my Climate Control (humidity) set to Auto
I have my Tube Temp set to 64 degrees

I have NO idea why it's that way as I gave up playing with it a long time ago and it seems to work for me. I don't wake up with a dry mouth or dried nose.
I don't have rainout - my house is air conditioned down to 71 degrees in the summer & 68 in the winter (dry forced heated air).
My water tub (distilled water) usually goes through about 65-85% of the water capacity per night (avg 7-8 hrs/night)
My heated hose is routed behind my head and 1/2 of it is under my pillow at night.

You can make (or they sell) covers for your hose that may help with rainout if that becomes an issue.

The only time I had rainout was on a cool night (45-50 degrees) and I slept with the window partially open...I guess the room got down in those temps and possibly led to rainout!
