possibly inexpensive lithium power bank.

Post by palerider » Sun May 09, 2021 11:14 am

So, out of curiosity, I bought one of these https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08LN ... UTF8&psc=1
that was mentioned a while back, it took a while to show up, (and they're out of stock at the moment), but it does work.

We saw this a while back with some pie in the sky dreams about it providing "a few weeks" of power for a cpap, while realistic calculations showed a night's use: http://cpaptalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=181843#p1381995

Well, I filled it up with Panasonic NCR18650 cells that I'd salvaged out of laptop batteries, they are 2.9ah cells, which works out to 128.7 watthours of power.

It ran my VPAP Auto for 9 hours.

All in all, not a bad deal, IF you can find another one and IF you have some spare cells laying around, but it's not magically going to give you 'weeks' of use.

I made (apparently) the mistake of paying $57 on Amazon, didn't think to look on aliexpress.

Oh no, that's without humidifier, no heated hose, pressures staring around 12 PS 5. (since higher pressures use more power.)

Did one of the supplied power cable ends work for you to connect direct to the battery, or did you have to use a third party/ResMed cable/DC-DC converter?

You have an Air 9 device, does it provide a power cable solution for the Air 10 models?
Battery Backup: EcoFlow Delta 2

I used it to power a Resmed DC-DC converter. it's got a plug that looks like it'd fit an air 10, but probably won't supply the control voltage properly.

Looks like $30-something.

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001063 ... lsrc=aw.ds
That's not the one I got, there were two models, one that has a 3s4p configuration (which I got) that outputs 12-24 volts, and this model which is a 4s3p configuration that output 16-24 volts.

You can tell this one is the 4s(Series)3p(Parallel) because there's battery slots labeled 4, the one I have only goes up to 3.

Either is fine to run a Resmed power supply, but too much for a Respironics.

The one in this link has to adjustments, it looks like one output gives 1-12 volts, and the other 16-24, each adjustable, the one I got only has one adjustable output.

So, neither of these are for the faint of heart, but if you've got some experience, and some old laptop batteries laying around that you feel like salvaging, (or other sources of cheap cells), they're something to consider.

Super nice device, perfect for a one night stand. That's about exactly what I use in a night.

Did you rig a cigarette lighter adapter to it for the Resmed converter?

Essentially, yes. I had a cigarette lighter adapter from my brother's Much More Expen$ive lithium power bank, I just used that, but it's easy enough to make one.
