Bald spot from headgear!

Post by Sluggish » Fri Dec 27, 2019 2:58 am

Using the Amara View headgear.
Anyone who uses this knows about the extremely uncomfortable clasp on the top/side of the head. Over some time it has created a bald spot (and a scar from what I’m told). I am already using a double thick piece of pad-a-cheek between my scalp and the clasp. I’m not sure what else to do. I’m worried the hair will never grow back in this area because of the scar. I’m worried that it will get even worse. I can’t use nasal masks.

Has anyone been through this?

Haven't used this particular mask, but have had issues in the past with headgear causing hair loss. I began experimenting with interchanging headgear from other masks so that I could switch up. In recent years I switched to no-headgear masks, the TapPap which is secured with a dental device, and the Bleep DreamPort which uses adhesive. Not sure what options there might be for non-nasal pillows masks. Maybe some others who have used this particular mask will be able to offer more targeted advice.

Thanks.
I haven’t tried the tap pap (because of the reviews) but have tried just about everything else.
I’m a bit puzzled by the bald spot really. Simply from a strap or clasp sitting/rubbing against the hair? Wouldn’t all regular hat wearers get the same type of rubbing and balding? Can I ever expect my hair to grow back in those areas?

I wear a cotton cap lined with silky material. It’s helping with my hair breakage.
