I usually wear a full face mask, and I'm starting to understand my preferences. I prefer a mask that sits over my nose (otherwise sore nose), and I also prefer it to tuck underneath my chin (otherwise sore teeth). Due to a combination of factors, it took MONTHS to actually get the Fisher & Paykel Forma in my hands, and I am in the process of testing out two different sizes. It's a little stiff against my cheeks though, and I'm not certain that I love the foam-under-silicone design. Also, I suspect that if it were a more popular mask, Fisher & Paykel would have probably made several small improvements to it over the years (exhale air flow direction & volume, ease of turning the tube, latches), whereas the newer masks that have been improved in these areas all sit above the chin and push my teeth around.
While I'm not abandoning the Forma, I'm thinking of also testing out two options and wonder who has some experience with either of these:
1- The flexifit 431, which is just silicone, no foam. Does anyone use this mask? Or has anyone used the Flexifit 431 and the Forma who could compare them? Volume or direction of the exhaled air? Ability to make a good seal? Is the FF 431 softer against the cheeks like it looks?
2- Use a standard full face mask in as large a size as I can find and just tuck it under my chin. I've already been doing this with the Resmed F20 Large, and the Fisher & Paykel Simplus Large. They work marginally well, but they aren't quite long enough to be as comfortable as they should be. Are there any other face masks shaped like these ones that are longer? There have got to be some people out there that need something slightly longer than the F20 or Simplus - where do those folks turn?
Thanks in advance for your input!

Re: Under the Chin Face Masks & Long Full Face Masks
If you use a FF mask that is too large it will leak. Most FF masks are made so the lower edge fits in the groove between your lower lip and chin...not under the chin.

I know they aren't meant to be used that way, but I have had some success doing it already. Whether or not it will actually leak depends probably on the shape of your face vs. the flexibility of the mask, as well as how much you tighten it, etc... I've been able to get a seal with the large f20 under my chin, but it's not perfect, which is why I'm curious about larger brands or styles. It's definitely not perfect, but then the Forma, which hasn't been updated in who-knows-how-many-years also isn't perfect.
