Lots o leaks...

Post by Mikesus » Sat Mar 19, 2005 9:27 am

Well I am in a pickle. If I cinch down my Ultra Mirage FF Mask to the point it won't leak at high pressure, my AHI goes up, and frankly its not comfortable... If I loosen it up, I am ending up with Large Leaks, and my wife is telling me that the circles under my eyes are returning...

I didn't do well on a nasal mask as I tend to mouth breath... Tape is not an option as I have a goatee...

Thinking of going the Activa or Aura route with a strap, but not sure if that will even make a difference for mouth breathing...

Why can't they make an Activa Full Face mask!!

I am in the same boat as you

Either red marks and sores or leaky city, baby!!
I need a mask which is halfway between a medium and a large
I really envy those who can just put it on and go to sleep.
I screw around with it for 10 minutes and then need to take Ambien,
otherwise I just lay there awake all night. The mask must leak when
the pressures get higher and I am rolling around an night.

The Swift is nice but I will need to tape the mouth (just haven't gotten
up the courage to do that yet).

This is one very frustarting illness, but others are far worse.

Frustrating and demoralizing.
Everytime I see my silouette against the wall as I'm about to turn out the light and go to sleep (view of me and my contraption), I am spooked.

There's nothing normal about this. If aliens were to arrive and take inventory, they would wonder why all these people have to sleep with some bizarre mask on their heads attached by a hose to a machine. What would they think? We would probably scare them off. Or maybe they would think it is the natural order of things.

Mikesus,

I have a beard and moustache and have taped my mouth. You need to just tape your lips.

Regarding adding the extra strap to the aura. I know rested gal likes to do this with her breeze/aura, but I have used both many times without any extra straps with excellent results. With the Breeze I actually need to add a forehead pad to push the nasal chamber away and not straps to pull it closer. The aura is 100% stable right out of the package.

Regarding the mouth taping, I found that I did it for a week or so and got used to breathing through my nose and no longer needed to tape.

I have a full beard and moustache too. I don't tape my mouth shut! I do sometimes have leaks through my mouth. This will usually wake me up and sometimes even make whistling noises. Usually if it wakes me up, I just wet my lips and close my mouth and go back to sleep. No complaints so far. I don't think I could take taping my mouth closed. They do make chin straps to help keep it closed. Maybe try the mouth piece with nasal plugs?

Wouldn't it be funnier than hell if we all got together and had a slumber party with our machines and masks!!! Can you imagine what the neighbors would say?????????

Maybe we could have a, well I guess it wouldn't be a reunion, but just a union????

I know it is about impossible but it would be fun to get together with everyone and have a picnic.

The Activa will help with the leaks, though I can get it to as much as I rock and roll at night. I just gradually trained myself to not breathe through my mouth. Still do at times but just wet my mouth and turn over. I too find it hard to believe that they don't come out with an Activa full face. I have written and they don't answer, you would think mthey have their head in the sand.

I absolutely love my Activa, its the best. I am, however, very anxious to try the new Aeiomed Aura because of the reviews I have heard. The Breeze and Swift just were not for me.

Good luck, the Activa is a good one. I wouldn't be suprised if they aren't making a full face Activa and just not letting anyone in on it.

A picnic to meet other people with this strange looking head gear for sleeping would be fun! Trade stories about sleepin' with a machine hooked up to our heads......whoa we might make 'DateLine' on TV, huh? They air stories about many different things.
Oh by the way, I make some killer baked beans. Go good with pink potato salad.

I'll put my baked beans up against yours, Patigirl! I got in trouble with my son-in-law's mother when her husband said my baked beans were the best he ever had. She looked like thunder, then later, edged over and whispered, "How do you make your beans?" Since I throw things together with no measuring, it was kind of hard to tell her.
Seems like I read somewhere once about how some of the stars (Michael Weirdo Jackson) and others sleep in Hypoberic chambers, or whatever to stay young? Must look as, if not more, strange as Cpapers.

Just wanted some help with the leaks

I wasn't looking to sleep with everyone on this list. But if I do,
do I get some kind of trophy? Where is Liam?

I thought the experience was the trophy?
