Is that even legal - to call it 'distilled' but... ?

Re: Really stupid item
Why do you think it is stupid? Some babies have problems with dehydration. Tasty water may help with this problem.
This is much better than parents who keep a bottle containing fruit juice flavorings in their babies' mouths.
Re: Really stupid item
I've seen this in Walmart near the baby formula so I think that is what its for. But I'm sure some sleepy people could have picked this up (esp. when the real distilled runs out) and not know why they have mineral deposits.
Good find and a word to cpap users - READ the label. "YES, I'm using distilled".

Typically - spring water contains minerals, distilled water does not have them. If a baby needs the minerals, then just buy the spring water...not "distilled with minerals added for taste"ChicagoGranny wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 7:17 amWhy do you think it is stupid? Aren't there stories about bottled spring water coming straight from the "tap"?Cruiser1234 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 7:45 amTypically - spring water contains minerals, distilled water does not have them. Re: Really stupid item
Drinking distilled water may not be the best idea for anybody.
Mineral waters have been promoted as "healthful" for centuries.
Some minerals may be used by the body--others may send you scampering for a commode.
The statement, "It might be something in the water." might not be without merit.
Until we understand exactly how stuff found naturally in water works, best not to strip it before drinking.

Perhaps that is why there is a market for this?chunkyfrog wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 9:24 amDrinking distilled water may not be the best idea for anybody.

Most water of Earth is distilled, that's the way the water cycle works, the water on Earth evaporates forming clouds, which cool down, the water vapor (cloud) condenses and drops back to Earth as Rain (distilled water). When back on the ground it soaks in and leaches minerals out of the ground, along with other pollutants mankind has spilled. Jim

I've looked on many bottles, and found the date it was bottled, is Spring water better for you to drink than Summer, Fall or Winter Water?SleepGeek wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 9:07 amAren't there stories about bottled spring water coming straight from the "tap"?Cruiser1234 wrote: ↑Mon Jan 04, 2021 7:45 amTypically - spring water contains minerals, distilled water does not have them. The best water I ever drank came from an artesian well in front of the house.

Re: Really stupid item
As the container packaging in the pic indicates - Distilled water w/minerals is specifically marketed for the use of making baby formula.
Normally, when making baby formula - there are some that just use tap water or well water (and accept any risks/concerns they may have).
Others will boil tap or well water to ensure there are no microbes or viruses in it that could make a baby sick.
By using distilled water with added minerals, the caregiver can now make baby formula with water that does NOT need to be boiled beforehand and they know that it does not have any of the typical concerns associated with using direct tap or well water. It also has the added benefit of minerals that some deem desired.
There's obviously a market for this stuff...otherwise Walmart would not be selling it.
Of course, most of us here are old enough and come from a generation...that we grew up riding our bikes without helmets, were held by our mothers in the front seat without a seat belt on, drank water directly out of streams, and teethed/chewed on crib rails and toys painted with lead paint!
Now, the real question/concern is...why does there never seem to be regular ole-fashioned distilled water when I go to the store?? Who else buys distilled water other than those who use it in their CPAP??

Freakazoids who DRINK IT!
Maybe they use it to make ice cubes, to blend with their green smoothies.
Extreme cold slightly deadens taste buds, so that "healthy" stuff doesn't taste quite so toxic.
