Cognition Struggle in the morning

Post by bronco.den » Mon Dec 07, 2020 12:13 am

Hello Experts

Even after good night sleep, I struggle with cognition in the morning. Afternoons are better and between 8.00 PM to 12.00 AM in the night my cognition function works best.
I am using CPAP since last 1.5 years with AHI around 1. My sleep timing is 1.00 AM to 8.00 AM. I do take afternoon nap (with CPAP) of 30-60 mins. Age: 37

Based on your experience, can you please through some light on this so that I can work on it.

Thank You.

I wonder if you should talk to your primary doctor to look for causes other than OSA or Cpap... especially at your age.

How were things before you got diagnosed? The same problem, or not?

Where I live, we worry about carbon monoxide from a faulty heater.
Since you have this year round, and for quite some time, I urge you to to see your doctor.

You may want to experiment with a different sleep schedule. Could you arrange to try sleeping longer? Our need for sleep can change over time, and your body may just want more than it used to.

Actually, if anything, people tend to sleep less and less as they age, but in the OPs case it wouldn't apply as they're relatively young and finding more info for their own case would be a good idea.

Do Older People Need Less Sleep?

According to the National Institution on Aging, it is considered a myth9 that older adults require less sleep than younger individuals. Many older adults have a hard time getting the sleep they need, but that doesn’t mean they need less sleep. The amount of sleep that a person needs can decrease from infancy to adulthood, but this trend appears to stop around age 60. The National Sleep Foundation guidelines10 advise that people over 65 should get seven to eight hours of sleep each night.

Do you get up to an alarm clock or wake up naturally? Just wondering if you wake to an alarm and are in the middle of deep sleep. Sleeping a little longer could help if that were an issue. Best wishes finding answers.

3. Older adults can’t learn new things.

Not true! Older adults still have the ability to learn new things, create new memories, and improve their performance in a variety of skills. While aging does often come with changes in thinking, many cognitive changes are positive, such as having more knowledge and insight from a lifetime of experiences.

I believe you are the "Poster Adult" for this one. :D

Well, I'm damn old enough to qualify, and I'm still trying to learn. I'm taking a poetry writing class. Last night I read my first poem to the class and got lots of applause.

After the applause, the instructor led me down the hall to my writing class and away from his pottery class.

Wait a minute, wait a minute, wait a minute!

I was thinking of older HUMAN adults, not dogs!

You are thinking of dogs.

OK,I hope that little bit of confusion is cleared up. Whew. :D
