What could explain this gap in my chart?

Post by JustStopsBreathing » Mon Aug 03, 2020 11:50 pm

Hi all,

I use a Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset. I've been on it for a year and have had good results overall, except the last couple weeks I've suddenly been waking up choking again somewhat frequently.

My wife told me that last night she woke up and the machine was vibrating and I was breathing inconsistently. I looked at the OSCAR data and there's a weird gap in the data in the middle of the night. OSCAR does list a session ending and then starting around it, but that's not consistent with the charts. I don't remember turning the machine off and on, but more strangely, this gap ends with both an obstructive and clear airway event with the pressure at full blast. I use the ramp feature. This doesn't show a ramp at the end of the gap. On all previous days that I've gotten up to go to the bathroom or something, it ramps again when I restart the machine. I don't really know what to make of this. Should I take the machine in for warranty, or was I not breathing for 4 minutes straight? At the least, I have an appointment with my sleep doctor Friday. I haven't had many obstructive events recently, but clear airway events are common.

Some more details:
Pressure: Min: 6, Max: 9.8
Ramp: On, start from 4
EPR: On, 3
Humidty: 6
Temp: 82 F
I do use a chin strap and have to tape my mouth in addition to that, but now I'm afraid to use tape

We know the machine wasn't turned off, or there wasn't a power failure because had there been it would have restarted at ramp pressure 4 and not reporting events.

I'm guessing there's some data corruption.

Occasionally I get odd or missing data from OSCAR and previously SleepyHead. What I do is purge the days data and re-import. Sometime it clears things up, sometime it doesn't.

I have a night from June with a 6 hour unexplained gap.

Regarding your partners observations. She could have observed a leak, mask "farting", or rainout and with it, it's intuitive to associate inconsistent breathing with the vibration.

I would unplug you machine for a minute or so to reset it incase there was a software glitch. Keep an eye on your traces to see if the gaps start showing up again.

BTW, in the future don't cut off the left panel and stats information. I know you listed the machine type and pertinent information in your post, but it's more convenient and consistent to glance over to the information panel, instead of going back through the post.
