Hi again, and again, relax. Everything will be fine, but not all at once, which is normal. Taking off the mask is normal for very many people, but they eventually stop doing that. You could work on getting your sleep 'hygiene' fixed up... i.e. go to bed at the same time every night... ahem. And don't fool around changing your pressures yourself (or otherwise) yet. Wait til things are stable so when/if you do make changes to anything, do them one at a time, for at least a few days each, so you'll know for sure what makes a difference rather than changing everything all at once and not knowing what did which.

Anyhow, my cat woke me to feed him... will put a pillow on his head if he keeps this up... have a nice day!
Will do! Won't mess around with anything until I see at least a weeks results :)
Will keep it updated and post my results for the next sleep, hopefully can get a 8-10 hourish sleep with it on and see how I feel, a good nice long rest haha.
Hope your cat is now fed and rested too haha, have a good day too cyu tomorrow :)

The struggle is real. I have also encountered issues wearing my CPAP. I stopped wearing it for some time due to the issues I had with it. My main impediment is ever since I got out of the Army I have become claustrophobic, and I find myself needing to take my mask off in the middle of the night in order to breathe (i know it's all in my head). So far, what has seemed to help me is meditation, and natural nonaddictive OTC sleeping supplements. I understand Medical Marijuana has helped many suffering from these issues and hopefully will one day be able to find out for myself. Good luck and be safe, you are not alone.

Julie mentioned sleep "hygiene." I kind of ignored the rules at first, thinking they somehow didn't apply to me, but I was wrong. Following them really helps! So give it your best shot. Here they are:

me too! though i still don't follow ALL of them.

because they don't apply to ME.

Tip - don't look for 8-10 hrs sleep... that's what you needed (and didn't benefit from) pre-Cpap. Now you may only need 6+ or so!

By the way since your diagnoses and getting your treatment done, have you been feeling much better? The biggest issue for me is the feeling of tiredness all the damn time haha, so thats what i'm hoping to have treated once I get everything locked down.

Absolutely. Before getting the T2D and Sleep Apnea under control I spent years walking around like a zombie. Even on my worst days on PAP therapy I don't feel like that anymore. Just as importantly, my wife is able to sleep now too. I used to snore like a demon. With the CPAP I don't really snore anymore as long as I'm wearing it.

Yes I had exactly the same problem as you!
I felt like I couldn't breath sometimes and had to take it off, I think with time and more use though and getting used to it helped, meditation may help I should look into it.

Update: tonight due to commitments i won't be able to sleep much and only able to get 4ish hours of sleep tonight, but I will be sure to keep the cpap on for this sleep.
I'll see the results and see if 4 hours can show anything, however the next time I sleep I will be able to get a proper 8+ hour sleep so will be sure to post those results.

I also have an appointment with my sleep tech finally on Wednesday as well, which aligns perfectly since i'll have two days of proper results (hopefully) for them to analyse.
I'll be sure to post reply what they say, but I feel I got over the worst now with your guys' help so thank you so much you have helped so much.
I hope that anyone in the future who may stumble on this thread may see that even the most struggling of cpap users, where it took me months to be able to keep it on for a sleep, was still able to succeed :)

Oh, these young 'uns! That, coopbosses, is Sam Elliott, the narrator in the movie The Big Lebowski (1998, so before you were born).

I very much had issues of feeling like I couldn't get a full breath and needing to remove the mask when I started. The only thing that fixed it for me was a higher minimum pressure. anything lower than 8 and I get the can't breath feeling.

Mine is at 6 baseline right now and I think it helped much better than a 4.

Update: Hey ya'll hope you guys have been having good night rests.
I fell asleep last night with the mask but once again took it off an hour into my sleep without realizing.
Trying the methods you guys suggested tonight to not remove it while sleeping without consciously knowing and hopefully will get a good 10 hour sleep with it.
Sleeping now and will post results in the morning, I also have an appointment with my sleep tech in the afternoon so I will keep you guys posted on what they say.
Thank you so much for the help and encouragement, wouldn't have been able to do anything without your support and would most definitely kept on procrastinating on using it. Goodnight!

I wish I had been diagnosed at 19, my whole life might be different.
Instead of Sleep apnea it should be called "Sleep deprivation, starving of oxygen, being poisoned by high CO2 levels, damaging the body and brain while it's supposed to be healing so that you constantly get worse and can never get healthy Apnea"
