Still waiting to be contacted by the CPAP supplier. They told me I would get a call. Did it take over a week after your prescription to get in contact for you? I guess they could be working things out with my insurance

A lot of it depends on your insurance. Quite often the DME has to wait for approval from the insurance company to approve the machine. They want to wait for approval from the insurance company in order to ensure they get paid for the machine. If you were buying the machine yourself, you would have heard from the DME the first day.

Might want to call up your insurance company to confirm that the DME supplier has even submitted the necessary documentation for approval.
DMEs have been known to take their own sweet time and then blame the delay on "waiting on your insurance approval".

Alright so I am going in next Wednesday to meet with a technician. I assume I will learn how to use the device. I was contacted by "Landauer Medstar", which seems to have 1-2 star ratings at all of the locations with 100s of ratings... this made me chuckle. The lady said I was prescribed a "cpap" machine, not sure if this is standard cpap or she just doesn't know the difference, but I really wish my doctor would have consulted me about when machine I would be trying out first. I guess if it doesnt go well I'll have to do the insurance dance to get a bilevel auto.

How do you go about ordering a second hand machine? I need the prescription from my doctor, so I just tell him i'm going to opt out of the rent to own insurance program and tackle it myself, and he sends me the prescription?

You have a legal right to a copy of your prescription (and, all of your medical records). Even for people who have the doctor send the script to a DME, a copy should be obtained for the patient's records. You never know when it might come in handy.

If the doctor hesitates to give you a copy, deal with his clerical staff - they are the ones that maintain the records and make copies.

this is the one I was looking at.
Definitely the best machine for UARS in my experience.

I am inspired by your experience. My doctor claims that there is no emperical evidence to suggest that bi level is more tolerable for UARS and he's a well known person in the field. Well just have to wait and see

I wouldn't say "more tolerable" in general; I'd say "more flexible," and so ultimately "more effective."

In the end, the only empirical evidence you'll care about is your own experience, and there's no downside to the vauto compared to the autoset.

Picked up the machine yesterday, its a dreamstation auto. I am using the phillips brand air pillows.
First night lasted about 3 hours due to a number of problems.
-machine is wheezing near the humidifier
-sounds like an air tank when I inhale.
-really friggin uncomfortable. felt like I was chocking and couldn't get air even though it was flowing.
-I had congestion in one nostril which was totally closed.
overall I remain skeptical about long term use and had to give it up because I didn't want to be a zombie for thanksgiving. guess Ill give it a go again tonight. not sure if I can lie in bed for 4 plus hours without falling asleep though.

Re attach the humidifier to the blower. Look at all the gaskets/seals inside the humidifier chamber to make sure none are crimped.
Make sure water chamber is perfectly inserted.

some more details:
I can wear a wheezing/motor sound increasing every time I inhale. I thought it was the humidified, but when I take the humidifier out, this sound moves up into the mask and it sounds like there is a robot on my head.
here is the noise: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M18zFJVghhw
I breath in longer than normal to demonstrate, you may need to turn your volume up XD. its audible if you listen on phone with full volume.

Known issue with some Respironics machine motors.
Any chance you can swap it out?
