I think I have too much tongue for my mouth too. The Good Morning Snore Solution helped a lot, and I think it even helped with apnea. The catch is, I could never keep it on all night. Tongue curling is an issue - if you can curl your tongue (not everyone can), it will break the seal. On the plus side, it also helps you avoid mouth breathing and mouth leaks. I have tried wearing it with both pillow/nasal and full face masks. It works great while I can keep it on. It’s no panacea, but FYI ....

Am I to understand, that even though the numbers are good, you still feel lousy?

According to the stats, this person is sleeping almost enough hours. While (s)he's slightly under seven hours, it's not a severe shortfall.

Just because you have a mask on and a machine running does not mean you are sleeping well.

That has been my experience. My biggest issue is being jerked awake as I'm about to sleep. It was so bothersome last night, I hardly slept at all.

Those moments where I did manage to get some sleep, I don't believe they're deep sleep. I think part of it is that my tongue and tonsils leave a small enough airway for me to breathe accordingly, but I wake up a couple hours later at most. I don't know...maybe this is a combo OSA/UARS thing.

I’ve tried that design and did not like it at all. It is very different from the GMSS. In particular, I did not like the flange pressing on the outside of my lips (GMSS is worn inside the lips, with only a small bulb protruding a little). Both do pull the tongue forward though.

It’s a knockoff of the Aveo TSD. See instructions on page 5 describing and showing it outside the lips. https://glidewelldental.com/wp-content/ ... -guide.pdf
However, I tried it both ways and didn’t like either. I also had trouble keeping it on for for than a few minutes. I could usually get partway through the night using the GMSS.

A weakness of both of those designs is that if you can curl your tongue (it’s apparently genetic - some can’t), it is very easy to break the seal by accident.

The GMSS is very thin and fairly comfortable between the lips and gum. There is a “Young Adult” size that is smaller, for those who find the original to be a mouthful.

Ymmv though. Both the Aveo and GMSS designs are compromises, and significantly different. Some may prefer the Aveo design.

FWIW, the GMSS and Z-Quiet can be worn together. I did that for a long time before accepting that I really needed CPAP.

Sounds to me like you are experiencing hypnic jerks. "Hypnic jerks or sleep starts are benign myoclonic jerks that usually occur on falling asleep. Before CPAP, I had these frequently, a few times a night (because I was waking often due to apnea). I would just be falling asleep and . . . JERK. Then I was awake fully again. Ugh!

It took a while, but now I rarely have them--had one the other night and was surprised because it's been a long time since I've had one. (Under a lot of stress right now in a California Wildfire emergency).

Your chart looks good, it seems like you are getting very good treatment. But I wonder what your O2 levels do during the night. Can you get your hands on a recording pulse oximeter?
