I too have been using Soclean for 5 years, Love it!! I've got the ResMed Airsence 10 Auto, with heated hose and humidification. I am a retired Operating Room RN, and Critical care nurse as well. SoClean is a great product and does a great job. There is a lot of misinformation in this thread. There are no dangers, The O3 is contained in the tubing, cpap machine and SoClean reservoir. Over the two hour cleaning period the filter system converts the O3 back to O2.

Tolson - when's the last time you didn't use the SC for any length of time? Would you be surprised to discover you didn't miss it, and that it does nothing at all?

How do you KNOW it's doing anything? Any idea how many thousands of people use machines without using SC and are just as happy as you!

Sigh......keep it civil folks or I will lock the thread and you guys/gals will have to start another thread to continue the "discussion".

This dead horse has been beat to death numerous times.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Everyone should be able to voice that opinion in a polite manner without getting nasty about it.

No name calling or slurs or personal attacks or questioning of anyone's intelligence.

Of course Julie, sometimes I don't use it for a couple of days, and I have never taken it to European trips. Most people don't use it, I am not addicted to Ozone sanitation, but for me it is convenient. Ozone has been used in sterile processing areas of hospitals for many years, as well as other methods including more toxic gases and high heat pressure autoclaves. How do I know it sanitizes? SoClean advertising aside, there is an incredible amount of research in the use of active oxygen in water purification, the disinfecting of fruit and vegetables from the fields. Except for the first 6 months on CPAP, I have never washed one hose or chamber. People can do what ever works for them. But my equipment has never made me sick, except for one sinus infection the first 6 months. I had no idea this was such a touchy subject in the CPAP community. Its just good science and technique. I Have nothing invested in this issue or in that company.

Safety and scare-mongering are always touchy subjects for those who care about others. As they should be. Especially in a medical-related forum.

If the commercials were honest, I wouldn't have an issue with FauxClean. But the commercials being what they are, I take it upon myself to push back and encourage others to do the same.

Please note that what happens in a hospital with ozone and what happens with FauxClean are not even remotely related beyond both using the same substance--one doing so safely and well, the other not so safely or well.

The good news is that the half-life of ozone is only 30 minutes. And since you leave it closed for 4 hours, all that's left is the residual ozone smell. And there isn't a high enough ozone concentration to kill stuff in the water tank, so I think you're pretty safe as long as you leave the machine closed until the lights are green.

The bad news is that it only adds time to your routine instead of saving time, since you still have to actually clean your equipment just as much as before but now have to fiddle with an extra unwieldy machine that doesn't actually do anything meaningful for you or your equipment.

Chainsaws are only a danger when they are running, but that don't make them safe to use in the bedroom.

@Pugsy: If I question my own intelligence, will you promise to lock the thread? :P

Here goes: I'm obviously an idiot!

Very well...12 pages of the same old crap gets old real fast. I will lock it.
But you guys know that another similar thread will probably pop up sooner than we want and I really can't stop them....and I would almost want all the crap in one thread than in multiple threads.....which is why I haven't locked it sooner.

Speaking our personal thoughts about the device doesn't break any of the forum terms of agreement.
If you love it or hate it....both have the right to speak it.
You know how Johnny feels about censorship.
