My DME keeps pushing it, so it pretty much has to be a scam.

It's not a scam but it's not something that works for everyone.
There is very specific criteria that need to be met before they will even consider you as a potential patient.
Read up on it and contact someone in your area and get the ball rolling to see if you even meet criteria first.
I had a friend who checked into it as she was interested. She didn't meet criteria.

I suggest trying CPAP first. While it's not for everybody, it's the gold standard for the treatment of Sleep Apnea.

If the inspire device should fail, you need surgery. If CPAP device (or any component thereof) should fail, it can be repaired or replaced.

I wonder why a DME would be pushing it since it is a device that needs outpatient surgery.

Probably getting a kickback from the surgeon and a huge markup on the device.

If it's going to be implanted by a surgeon, it needs to be sterile. I don't think a DME could sell it.

I can't think of any possible financial reason for a DME to be pushing the Inspire procedure unless he owns stock in the Inspire company.
Maybe he just knows someone who simply couldn't get used to cpap and did the Inspire procedure and it worked for him.

The DME wants to get rid of rcobourn as a customer?
