Compliance phone call
I’m a new user with 5 whole days in on CPAP. I set up the myAir app for iOS as recommended by the DME. I returned a call to the DME today as they were checking in on my progress. The rep stated I needed to stay in compliance for the insurance company yet I already was. My DR didn’t mention this to me.
I wonder how many people have access to my data through the ATT cellular modem. At least two now. The folks behind myAir and the equipment supplier. I also use OSCAR on a 2011 MacBook Air running Sierra. The Mac has a built-in SD Card reader.

Re: Compliance phone call
If you are concerned about privacy put the modem in airplane mode and provide printed reports to your doctor as required or bring the SD card to your scheduled Dr appointments and let them read it.
Problem solved.

Who would want to look at your sleeping data for one thing? To my knowledge, your data goes to the ResMed Cloud where it sits until someone asks to see it. To see your data someone would need access to the ResMed cloud and your serial number .

Re: Compliance phone call
If you're compliant and have an AHI under five, they'll be happy.
The medicare definition of compliant (which is the one used by most private insurance) requires four or more hours on 70% of the nights. True adherence is the entire time you're lying down 100% of nights. The former will keep you out of trouble with your insurance. The latter will keep you healthy.

Re: Compliance phone call
Ya, if your using your CPAP every time you sleep, the whole time you sleep, and your still out of compliance, you have bigger issues to worry about then the insurance company.
Chronic insomnia maybe?
If your using it 100% of the time and are sleeping at least 6 hours a night the people pestering you can go pound sand. You should have nothing to worry about.

I just pulled the modem out of my machine when I got it. I refuse to let the provider spy on me.
When Medicare pays for my prescription, which costs over $1,000 a month, they don't check to see if I am using it. Same with my CPAP machine. It is none of their business.

Also, I have a friend who is a dual on CPAP. The supplier at first tried charging him a monthly fee because they had to monitor compliance. I advised him not to pay, and he didn't. The company then agreed not to charge him.
Monitoring is not a separate cost, and comes with the costs of the machine. Do not let suppliers nickel and dime you like this.

Pistols and swords us a duel.
Only thing I can think a 'dual on cpap' would be is two people sharing one machine? never seen a hose y adapter though.

Re: Compliance phone call
It must be a while since you got a new machine, because it's not possible any more to "pull the modem out of the machine". But you CAN disable it by putting the modem incrab-legs wrote: ↑Thu Aug 01, 2019 6:06 pmI just pulled the modem out of my machine when I got it. I refuse to let the provider spy on me.

"Airplane mode".
Medicare DOES require that you prove compliance within 90 days of receiving a new machine under Medicare. Medicare itself does not "check the data" but requires your physician to document that you meet the compliance criteria after a face to face meeting you may simply not remember if you are still using a machine that had an external modem. That means that SOMEONE (your DME or your doctor) viewed the data to make sure you met the compliance requirements. Now there are several ways that can be done: Over the air via modem, taking your data card to your doctor or DME who will print out the compliance data and verify it, or taking your machine to your DME or doctor who will view the compliance data on the machine. But while they may not check if you are using your $1000 month medication prescription (asking for refills kind of takes care of that), they DO check your compliance with CPAP.
In a way, Medicare DOES check to see if you are using your $1000 per month prescription. If you are renewing the prescription they have a pretty good idea that you are using it.

Well, the Dreamstation does have a removable modem, and the resmeds, you can disconnect it, if you want to take it a little apartJanknitz wrote: ↑Mon Aug 05, 2019 2:25 pmIt must be a while since you got a new machine, because it's not possible any more to "pull the modem out of the machine". Re: Compliance phone call
Before my yearly appointment, my sleep doc accesses a month's worth of data.
Just a nice print-out to document why Medicare gives him the "big bucks".
Years ago, when we heard unexplained clicks on our private phone line,
the bullfrog thought Big Brother was listening, as he was not yet a citizen.
(Yes, I married an alien.)
We took to mocking the unheard listener--relentlessly.
Our phone line eventually became inexplicably quiet.
