HELP! Water in unit...NOT WORKING!

Post by PBA » Sat Jul 06, 2019 5:58 am

Hi- over the weekend, I moved my Apex XT Fit machine and setting it up last night, saw condensation inside the display! Tipped it over & water ran out . Dried it out, and the display flashed on, then off. Srt it in front of a Honeywell's fan overnight. Seems to be clearing the .condensation, but still not working. Any hope /tips to get it working again? Its 3,5 years old. Bought it online as insurance wanted more for a deductible than it cost me to get this 2 hour 'used' one. HELP!!!!!. ?

Do you use the optional humidifier? How do you think water got into the machine?

Never move your machine with water in the humidifier. You may need to shop for another one.

Time to shop for a replacement.
Don't ditch the wet one, though. It could dry out more in time.
(Everybody needs a spare.)
How much rice do you have?--JUST KIDDING!

Put the machine in a sealed container with some silica gel. You will need roughly 1.5 grams of the silica gel but to be safe round that up to 3 or even 5 grams.

You should be able to find the silica gel at your local arts and crafts store or perhaps at a hardware store.

You can monitor your progress by checking the color of the gel. I don't know how much moisture is in your machine but would guess it would take at least a day or two to get rid of most of it.

It would have been much better if you never turned the machine on, but it is worth a try to see if the machine will recover.

Got a hair dryer? That's what we've recommended for as long as this forum has existed.
The machine needs to be stood on end with the air outlet on the bottom so any residual water can drain down and out.
Then, use a hair dryer (at low temp or just air) to try to dry out the circuitry.
It's also recommended that the machine NOT be started until it's dried out first. But, you may get lucky.

Crystal cat litter is silica. You can put a good layer of crsytal cat litter in a container. Set the machine on top. Seal the lid. It will take time. The litter can later be baked to dry it out, then use again.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?
