Constant 70L leak with Nasal Pillows

Post by David1447 » Thu Jan 17, 2019 8:56 pm

I usually use an FFM, but tried a nasal pillows mask (opus 360) again tonight. I taped my mouth well and used a chin strap, the mouth is not the source of leaks most likely - I tried pushing air out of it by force, nothing beyond chipmunk cheeks.

The graph shows this leak. It seems constant throughout the night. I felt none of it. I checked repeatedly while I still had my tape on after the night was over, I reapplied the mask and looked for any leaking parts along the mask. I also double checked yesterday before falling asleep. There don't seem to be any leaks.

The therapy pressure usually goes higher than 14, but that's with an FFM.

What could be going on?

My guess is the nasal pillow isn't seated into the frame area where you plug in whichever size pillow you want to use.
Or a hole in the hose or something.

No leaks at all up to this point. I'll recheck the hose.
I checked the connection to the frame, the pillows themselves and their connections. No leaks.

There are these holes to let the air out, a lot of air goes out of them. Is it possible my machine is that dumb...?

No...there's nothing wrong with your machine unless you didn't change the mask type from FFM to pillows but I wouldn't think it would make that big of a difference.

I seem to have a problem with leaking around the nasal pillows. You might experiment with pillow sizes to see if it makes a difference.

Tried that. I mean, a bit of air leaks at certain angles. Mostly though, I don't feel any leaks at all there.

Going back to my FFM for now. Maybe the mask is defective, as it's the only one that presents these numbers.
