I've never seen the point in spending a lot of money for a "cpap" pillow. I just sleep near enough to the edge of my plain pillow so that it doesn't push on the mask.
yup, that's me, too. i don't really like the idea of buying that special pillow, then having to take it with me when i travel.

tough enough to remember all the other crap i have to travel with!
people say i'm self absorbed.
but that's enough about them.

I tried a "cpap" pillow. If you lay just right on them, they do a fine job of not putting pressure on the mask.

But I don't lay just right all night.

Mine was too hard. When your mask touched it there was no give and it immediately shifted out of place.

Not saying they would not help some, but it was a waste of money for me.

Yeah, that's part of the issue with me, with my plain old pillow, I can scrunch it up wherever, however, I happen to be laying, and it works... with something that has a notch in it, it has to be positioned *just so*... and when I roll over, it's so narrow, it has to be fixed, again, *just so*...

Plus... what's the point of the notch? I mean, your *face* doesn't stick out above and below the mask... why's there pillow sticking out? If you look at the pic up there, all that guy is doing is putting his head in the middle, on the blue part, the green parts don't support anything it makes no sense to me.

It's just another "oh, let's make money on people's suffering"

If you want to use one, and it ends up working for you... that's great, more power to you, but it's not for me.

Yes I am high pressure and I tried mask fit at full pressure. We will see how it goes tonight when I am laying down on my very old, squished pillow.

No the pillows were not like those listed. The less expensive was similar to the one pictured below but the more expensive on was really ajustable so you could use sitting up or laying down. A quick google didn't show me anything like it.

The Contour Products one pictured is exactly the one I have had for years. Before buying it, I used to take my fist and punch in a space on the left and right sides of my regular pillow for those times during the night when I would like to sleep on my side without knocking the mask off kilter. This pillow eliminated the fist punching and it is still going strong 7 years later.

I liked the idea when I started...until I was told that insurance didn't cover it. I was not spending that much on a pillow that might not work. I just have my face at the edge of the pillow, and if I need to, I use my hand to cradle the mask a bit. That removes any direct pressure so that my mask isn't being moved. Once I am asleep, I don't notice anything.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

Hand position while sleeping is strongly related to carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel.
If you have any doubts or early symptoms, don't ignore them.

Thats part of the reason I switched masks. I have both carpel and cubital tunnel. And I was waking up holding the dream-ware one to my face to prevent the rude noises from waking me all the way up. so far the f-30 (only one night) hasn't made noise when it leaks. I also have had zero rain out which I can't figure out how I was getting in Arizona in the first place. On the down side that hose in the front is going to take some getting used to so I don't strangle myself.

I get a little rain out with the Dreamwear FFM when the bedroom is cool at night like it is now. I think is is because some of the vents are located at the top of the head, and some in the mask itself. The vent holes are very small and I think the moisture from my breath doesn't get expelled as well as it does with some of the other masks.

I agree that I do fine by simply sleeping at the edge of my plain old fashioned bed pillow. I have tried two different "contoured Pillows, but none worked as well as the ordinary pillow.

Early in the game I got a CPAP pillow, hoping it would help me sleep on my side. At the time I had a ResMed N20. Useless.

Declan, loves it though. Best cat bed ever.

Get a hose hanger.... it stops all that hose tangle issues. Lots of folks here have devised their own hose hanger for almost no price. Do a search.

I sleep with a ridiculous amount of pillows of all different shapes and sizes and they are for different purposes and most have names. The three main places I sleep I now have fully stocked and operational so I don't carry clothes or toiletries between locations but I do always carry two of my pillows in a carry-on ... nice for plane and I nestle my laptop between them.

TSA ... ALWAYS ... questions me. Every way I try to explain why I have a bag of pillows sounds different from the last explanation. (I have issues with that sort of thing :P ... lack of simple answers.)

My head and neck pillow (named lump) is shredded foam and looks pathetically empty. It is in a zippered case so I could adjust the amount of filling. I sleep on my stomach when I am happiest but sometimes sleep on my side for an hour or so. The complementary pillow is for my chin and for hugging. This second pillow chin support is crucial for me even with the dreamwear. It keeps me from having to use my hand and it makes my neck feel really secure when I am way over on the edge of (lump) pillow. After a few experiments I found that the edge of my foam / gel pillow works best for this second (chin) pillow and keeps me in a position a bit like wearing a cervical collar ... and feels soft and squishy to hug.

... I've got pillows for all body parts and needs. LOL ... I'm hoping an adjustable bed will maybe get me down to five or so extra pillows. I talked to a salesman in person yesterday for adjustable beds but he left me with more doubts. Talk about "talking past the close" ... I was a lay down walking in ... and he unsold me.

Wow ... that was interesting for me, CG, thanks. I guess only one I would have assigned a pronoun to? The rest are those kind of 'Millennial Parents' naming trend names ... like "Lump". Thought the lyrics "SHE'S lump" are often sung if I ask anyone "where Lump is ??????" ... honestly I think lump is truly neither male or female ... like a great cartoon character from the 1970s. A schmooo or something.

oh ... that "one" I suppose is male. And he is NOT my chin pillow.
(Though until just now I thought they were all just "names".)

Also, CG ... thank you for your "placebo" article.
