Aircurve 10 VAuto 3G?

Post by CPAPSteve » Tue Dec 18, 2018 6:09 pm

So I was perusing the classifieds today and noticed someone selling an AirCurve 10 VAuto 3G.

Is that the latest unit? Is the 3G in reference to the cellular modem built into it? Are any of the current 2018 models of CPAP machines LTE?

Guy was selling it brand new for next to nothing which was a bit of a surprise.

Maybe or perhaps the cellular modem type in the unit? How do our machines report our data back to big brother? Is it all 3G or LTE transceivers?

I think all the 10 models have cellular modems....I believe the data is sent to the cloud where it sits until someone requests it using the serial number. In many cases no one ever requests the data and it sits there forever. You can block the data being sent by turning on airplane mode.

Yes I believe you are incorrect that all data goes to REsmed cloud BUT I believe the cellular forms in them do make a difference hence why I wondered if 3G meant it had a 3G cell modem in it. I thought I had read somewhere that old ResMed CPAP units could no longer upload to the cloud or had some cell network compatibility issues - maybe it was an old school 2G/edge modem that could no longer work with the modern 3G/4G/LTE network.

Whatever it may be the seller is asking next to nothing for it so I was quite surprised. I wonder if it is a scam.

Sometimes you can find good deals. I recently picked up an Aircurve 10 VAUTO with 109 hours on it for $225. It came from a pet free, non-smoking home. The user has asthma, like I do, so he couldn't be around these things.

I would expect the Canadian machines to use either LTE or GSM because the older CDMA network has been turned off in Canada.

You can't count on classified ads representing the machine and model accurately.

People regularly:
  • Don't put the model on it
  • Put the wrong model on it
  • Refer to it as an Apnea, Snore, or Breathing machines
One guy had a picture, of the ResMed AirCurve 10 Vauto/S/ST manual, when I pressed him for the exact model number after a few times he replied, "Model S9-H5i-Americas Hose with full face mask used for a couple of months."

The unit is definitely a vauto as he does have pics of it but he is way across the country and I am not comfortable paying someone to ship something that may not make it here safely or doesn’t get shipped at all... oh well.
